The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and other news media outlets have been asking the question, Why 3-D? They've come up with some interesting answers.
There's no doubt that charging more for 3-D is attractive to theaters, but, having been involved in several of the meetings at Panavision and Disney about the transition to 3-D, it is important to note that the real reason for 3-D is to protect movies from pirating. It is the same clunky system as the 1950s with some improvements, but the use of the polarized glasses means that it's almost impossible for some low tech, movie pirate to produce a copy in the theater.
There are better 3-D systems that are totally software generated and do not require gl...

LETTERS TO GOD opens this Friday on April 9th.
This the first of three faith-based family films the newly formed film company Possibility Pictures will produce. MOVIEGUIDE® had the opportunity to visit the film set in Kissimmee, Florida at "Give the Kids the World" village where Executive Producer Tom Swanson, Director David Nixon, and Producer Kim Dawson and the cast and crew members were furiously working on the final days of production.
LETTERS TO GOD is an inspiring film based on a true story of a young boy coping with cancer and the tremendous impact his faith had on the people around him. Although it is a drama, LETTERS TO GOD is filled with laughter, love, hope, and triumph. The cast inclu...

More than 55 years ago in Argentina, my wife's father, Dr. Rudolfo Milani, had a flourishing medical practice and a prestigious position in the Argentine medical community.
Juan Peron, who had studied and served under Mussolini, had been implementing national socialism along the Mussolini model for several years in Argentina. That meant he was trying to control every thing and every body. In the process, Argentina went from being one of the most prosperous countries in the world with a large gold reserve and very little poverty, to being one of the most impoverished, bankrupt countries in South America.
Wisely, Dr. Milani, as the government control of healthcare increased, left the country. He came to the Unit...
Internet censorship by the Communist Party leaders in China has driven Google, the world's biggest Internet search engine, out of the country.
The Communists stopped Google from being available on the mainland after Google decided it was no longer going to abide by the government's censorship rules on its search engine.
Google has tried to get the U.S. government and other companies to support its protest action against China's neo-fascist, communist censorship rules, but the response has not been positive so far.

A TV game show in France revealed something very dark recently.
When given the chance, 81% of the participants in the "show" elected to "kill" a contestant with electricity. A fake - or should we say faux - game show was held with actors playing the victims. The participants giving the electric shocks, however, thought that the victims and the game were real. They could decide how much electricity to jolt the contestants. The majority kept jolting the "contestant" until he, an actor, pretended to die.
Of 80 players, 16 individuals walked out. Of the remaining 64 players, 51 "killed" the contestant. A player commented, "I was worried about the contestant. At the same time, I was afraid to spoil the program."
There seems to ...

Can you trust what the Bible says about the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Passover, Good Friday and Easter stories in the Bible?
In the opening to the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke in the New Testament, the Greek physician Luke, a close friend of the Apostle Paul, writes, "I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning."
How can we know if this is true? How can we find out if the books of the New Testament are accurate, reliable records of the teachings of Jesus Christ?
In a court of law, the burden of proof for denying the credibility of an eyewitness falls on those who wish to undermine that credibility. An ey...

The cast and crew of the new Touchstone/Disney movie THE LAST SONG assembled to give some insight about making the movie, the meaning of the movie and why it's an important one for Miley Cyrus.
As most know, Miley has become a teenage phenomenon first as the star of the Disney Channel's hit series HANNAH MONTANA, then as a recording artist, and last summer as the star of a movie based on the series. HANNAH MONTANA THE MOVIE was honored at the most recent MOVIEGUIDE® Faith and Values Awards Gala as a top movie for families in 2009.
But, that was then.
Miley says she is looking to "get out of her comfort zone" and to try new things. She says, "The other film (based on the series) was easy. I was, like, ...
Capio Nightingale Hospital in Central London has opened what may be the first rehab clinic for children as young as age 12 who are addicted to the Internet, computer games and mobile phones, the Daily Mail reported March 17.
"Mental health services need to adapt quickly to the changing worlds that young people inhabit, and understand just how seriously their lives can be impaired by unregulated time online, onscreen or in-game," said Dr. Richard Graham, a consulting psychiatrist for the hospital's new clinic.
"Many of the existing services fail to recognize the complexity of these situations, borrowing from older models of addiction and substance abuse to very limited effect," he added.
"I've been contacted by parents who see their child...
Communist Dictator, mass murderer and reigning feudal lord Fidel Castro of Cuba today praised President Barack Obama for getting his leftist healthcare program passed by the United States Congress.
But, Castro chided Obama for failing to be more pro-active in doing more about preventing "global warming" and for Obama's "lack of leadership on immigration reform that would give amnesty to illegal aliens.
To really understand the horrors of Castro's repressive, murderous, monstrous, tyrannical rule of everything in Cuba, read Against All Hope: A Memoir of Life in Castro's Gulag by Armando Valladares. Against All Hope is Armando Valladares' account of more than twenty years in Fidel Castro's horrendous gulag. Arrested in 1960, Valladares was ...
The Witherspoon Institute has found that a growing body of research shows the habitual use of pornography destroys people of all ages and both sexes, including their relationships, their productivity, and even their ability to function in society.
"Since the beginning of the Internet age," says Mary Eberstadt, research fellow of the Hoover Institution, "pornography has been consumed in greater quantities than ever before in human history and its content has grown more graphic."
Often thought to be an activity that doesn't harm anyone, this study shows that the victims of pornography are the user and those the user loves.
The Witherspoon Institute's report, "The Social Costs of Pornography," is "the first multifaceted, multidisciplinary, ...
