In another sign of cultural collapse, a new study by researchers at Washington State University shows that celebrity endorsements are an effective political strategy for engaging younger voters and getting them to the polls.
The study found that an 11% increase in voter turnout among 18 to 24-year-olds in recent years was "largely attributable to celebrity get-out-the-vote promotions."
Also, for example, the support of Oprah Winfrey helped Barack Obama win the presidency, and the support of actor Chuck Norris helped Mike Huckabee come in second to John McCain during the Republican primaries.
This trend shows that MOVIEGUIDE®'s efforts to help Hollywood celebrities in their Christian walk, through the Annual Faith & Values Awards Gal...

Once again, Movieguide®'s Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry shows that moviegoers prefer movies with no sex. In fact, the more explicit sex a movie contained in 2009, the worse it did at the box office.
"This was especially clear in 2009," said Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®: The Family Guide to Movies, Entertainment and Culture. "Movies with no sex and no sexual immorality averaged significantly more money at the box office than movies with some or a lot of such content."
This rejection of explicit sexual content was even true overseas, Dr. Baehr reports.
Movieguide®'s analysis of the Top 275 or so movies released in 2009 showed the following statistics:
* Amount of Sexual Content in 2009
An annual box office analysis by Movieguide® has found that the most family-friendly movies earn the most money at the box office and on home video.
The Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry by the pro-family advocacy group Movieguide® shows that the most family-friendly movies averaged about $63 million per movie in 2009 in America and Canada, but that the least family-friendly movies averaged only $27.1 million.
The study extensively analyzed the content of the Top 275 or so movies released by the major studios in Hollywood, including the major independent studios.
The study also found that movies with graphically depicted sex or very strong sexual immorality averaged less than $17.5 million per movie while movies with at least...

2009 was the year that Hollywood finally looked at their BLIND SIDE, caring Southern Christians who opened their home to the homeless and demonstrate the redemptive power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in action.
2009 was the year that a 78-year-old man finds out that caring about others is the best adventure in UP.
2009 was the year that Hollywood discovered in a beloved classic piece of literature, A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens, the Good News that the bad news of eternal damnation does not have to be if you allow the Truth of Christmas, who is Jesus Christ, to transform your heart.
2009 was the year that learning to love others, especially your father, brought real self-esteem and overcame selfishness and gluttony in CLOUDY WIT...

The Telegraph (a popular English news website) reports that voodoo leaders in Haiti are upset that aid is not coming to followers of voodoo as quickly as it is coming to evangelicals. The article, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/centralamericaandthecaribbean/haiti/7119572/Haiti-earthquake-voodoo-high-priest-claims-aid-monopolised-by-Christians.html, claims that followers of Haitian voodoo worship hundreds of spirits called "Iwa." The article quotes Kompe Filo, a popular Haitian television and radio personality, saying, "God is angry against humanity, not just Haiti but all humanity. This is a message that man must change, and reconnect with the natural world around him. We have a lot of beliefs modern people shou...

After three years of nominating almost exclusively R-rated movies for best picture, the Academy Award nominations for the best pictures of 2009 include UP and THE BLIND SIDE. Perhaps this is because the Academy has doubled the number of nominees from five to ten, but nevertheless it's refreshing to see even two family-oriented films appear in the mix. This year there are six R-rated nominees, three PG-13s, and UP, which is rated PG.
UP is the first movie given a +3 acceptability rating by MOVIEGUIDE to be nominated for best picture since BEAUTY AND THE BEAST in 1991. THE BLIND SIDE received -1, four movies received a -2, three received a -3, and AVATAR received a -4 because of its strong pantheist worldview.

The 9 million people of Haiti, largely of Afrcan descent, inhabit about 10,000 square miles of the paradise-like Caribbean island of Hispaniola. They constitute the only nation to gain its independence through a successful slave rebellion in 1804. Sadly, Haiti remains the poorest country in the Americas.
Its independence was inspired in part by the secular idealism of the French Revolution and biblical Christianity, but launched in a voodoo ceremony on August 14, 1791, that, according to oral tradition, included sacrificing a pig, drinking its blood and making a pact with the demonic supernatural.
In 200 years, none of its 32 coups, multiple dictatorships and democratic elections succeeded in building political ...
