The faith-filled movie hit of the season is THE BLIND SIDE starring Sandra Bullock as a woman who adopts a homeless high school African-American boy and gives him the chance of a lifetime to play college football. The best part about the story is that it is true!
Though portrayed by Sandra Bullock, the real life woman who reached out to the young Michael Ohr is Leigh Anne Tuohy. Movieguide® had a chance to talk to Ms. Tuohy about the criticism she received for adopting Michael and how she was even accused of doing it just to help out Ole Miss.
Movieguide®: There were a couple of scenes in this movie that I thought were kind of interesting. The conversation you had with your friends [when your friends di...

Editor's Note: Hollywood is about to release Ayn Rand's ATLAS SHRUGGED in 2011, and Ayn was once upon a time a screenwriter in Hollywood. Therefore, Christians should understand the strengths and weaknesses of her philosophy. To help clarify the Christian perspective toward Miss Rand, here is a wonderful article to read and pass on to your family and friends.
If you're over 40, you probably remember the 1987 movie Wall Street. Kirk Douglas played the key role, a ruthless corporate raider named Gordon Gekko. Gekko is famous for his defense of selfishness: "Greed. . . is good," he tells a young broker. "Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. ...
An organization calling itself The Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions recently appointed a Muslim cleric as its new chair.
The kind of "pluralism" that this group (including its very name) represents is an obvious attempt to water down the real distinctions among the world's religions, and, hence, represents a watering down of the term religion itself.
In that light, it is interesting to note that the Council's two biggest social reform efforts are destruction of "the excessive consumption that drives ruthless economic development" and focusing on "environmental issues and climate change."
Of course, the definition of "excessive consumption" is in the eye of the beholder. And, the topic of "climate change" has promoted all...
In another sign of cultural collapse, a new study by researchers at Washington State University shows that celebrity endorsements are an effective political strategy for engaging younger voters and getting them to the polls.
The study found that an 11% increase in voter turnout among 18 to 24-year-olds in recent years was "largely attributable to celebrity get-out-the-vote promotions."
Also, for example, the support of Oprah Winfrey helped Barack Obama win the presidency, and the support of actor Chuck Norris helped Mike Huckabee come in second to John McCain during the Republican primaries.
This trend shows that MOVIEGUIDE®'S efforts to help Hollywood celebrities in their Christian walk, through the Annual Faith & Values Awards Gal...
The homosexual community is known for its sexual sleaze and pornography.
Such was the case recently at the American Music Awards on Nov. 22 when openly homosexual pervert and American Idol "singer" Adam Lambert shoved the faces of dancers into his crotch, led others around on dog leashes, and passionately kissed his male keyboard "player" on the mouth.
This perverted display goes all the way back to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. As such, it proves the righteousness of God in condemning such evil in passages like Leviticus 18:1-30, Mark 7:20-23, Romans 1:24-32, and Revelation 21:8.
Lambert's behavior, and the often crude, lewd, and obscene behavior of many leaders and artists in the homosexual "movement," shows that this m...
More female child stars in Hollywood are being put into sexploitation movies.
MOVIEGUIDE® has already protested Dakota Fanning's role in the child rape movie HOUNDDOG. Despite the dismal failure of that ridiculous, sick movie, Fanning will share top billing next year with Kristen Stewart, the ingénue of the TWILIGHT movies, in a movie titled THE RUNAWAYS, about a real "jailbait" rock band in the 1970s. Meanwhile, child star Abigail Breslin will appear in something called RAPE: A LOVE STORY, and AnnaSophia Robb (RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN) reportedly will appear in another "adult" movie like the one she did with Charlize Theron, SLEEPWALKING.
Apparently, as shown by the Hollywood crowd that rushed to the defense of Roman Polanski recently, t...
Ongoing Muslim mob violence against Christians in Egypt has led the Christians there to plead for help from the international community.
So far, the Egyptian authorities have made no arrests of any of the attacking Muslims.
Each year, hundreds, if not thousands, of Christians are attacked or murdered by Muslims, and their shops and churches burned down to the ground. In countries run by Muslims, most Non-Muslims soon realize that Islam is not really a "religion of peace" and the Koran is a hateful, evil text that mocks the laws of the God who created us all.

The Center for Inquiry, the leading atheist organization in the United States based in Amherst, NY, recently published the winner of its Best Blasphemy Award - "Faith is no reason."
In defending the winner, CFI President and CEO Ronald A. Lindsay said, "Beliefs should be based on evidence and reason. Faith is not a basis for logically sound belief."
With all due respect to Mr. Lindsay, his group has just ignored 3,500 years of Jewish and Christian history and thought.
When Moses approached the Hebrew people and the Pharaoh about the Jews leaving Egypt, he presented them with miraculous evidence for his message from God. Thus, the Jews themselves and Pharaoh himself could see the hand of God actually working in such miracles like Passove...

"I'm the world's most dangerous predator. Everything about me invites you in. My voice, my face, even my smell... I'm designed to kill... I wanted to kill you. I've never wanted a human's blood so much in my life... Your scent, it's like a drug to me. You're like my own personal brand of heroin."
