MOVIEGUIDE® had a chance to get a behind the scenes look at an upcoming direct to DVD movie, MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL starring Dean Jones. As everyone knows, Dean Jones has become an icon in family filmmaking and shares his thoughts about his new movie.
MOVIEGUIDE®: What was it about MANDIE that made you want to do this movie?
Dean Jones: MANDIE appealed to me for several reasons. I love being a part of films which will bring families together. I enjoyed the story. I liked the fact that it was taken from a book series, which has sold several million copies. I was excited to work with the producers/directors, Joy Chapman and Owen Smith, who have made several family films.
MOVIEGUIDE®: What memory st...

Coming to your local theater October 23 is a movie that I can only call the most horrific movie ever seen. It's called ANTICHRIST, and it's filled with a wicked worldview, vile pornographic scenes, onscreen mutilation of private parts, and some other material which I simply cannot describe to you in a family publication.
We cannot stop this movie, but we have a strategy which we believe will be the next best thing.
We are petitioning the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the people who hand out the ratings on movies, to rate this despicable movie what it deserves: NC-17.
This rating will keep it out of many of your neighborhood cinemas. Whereas, if they deem it to be R-r...

Actor John Quade, who passed away Aug. 9, was one of Hollywood's great villains. And, he was a good friend of the Christian Film & Television Commission®. He spoke at our fundraising banquets and blessed us in innumerable ways.
John contended that being a Christian helped him to be a better villain, because he understood from the Bible and personal experience the dark side. He was Clint Eastwood's favorite nemesis during the HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE and OUTLAW JOSEY WALES phase of Eastwood's career.
John liked to tell the story of being called in by his agent to read for an important role. John looked at the script and started walking out. The agent ran after him, saying, "John, you'...

Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch (FreedomWatchUSA.org) confirmed Thursday that he has served Iranian President Mahmoud Amendinejad, who has denied the Holocaust and vowed to kill all Jews, in a class action lawsuit in the alleged torture death of a freedom protestor and other terror victims.
The lawsuit asks for $10 billion from the president, the nation of Iran, Iran's Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution, and Islamic leader Ayatollah Sayid Ali Hoseyni Khamenei on behalf of victims of Iran-sponsored terror, including the lead plaintiff, an Iranian woman whose brother reportedly was eventually tortured to death in an Iranian prison after being arrested for peaceful protests.
Klayman said the Iran...

For years, my children have enjoyed relatively innocent and agreeable programming on cable networks such as Nickelodeon, Disney and their subsidiaries. I've often said the silly sitcoms of the 80's merely moved to cable and were re-engineered for a new generation.
However, I was not surprised over the last decade to see a disquieting agenda slowly and methodically slipped into new shows and advertising. Hoping to never have to pull the plug on a channel that brings us a chipper sea sponge and his goofy friends, I have kept a wary eye on it. Sometimes an ad would air that was slightly age inappropriate, but nothing to strike over. Then, a new show comes out and is number one in the ratings. . . but, the characters wear out ...

If only he would use his talent for goodness instead of evil!
That is a paraphrased comic statement that Secret Agent Maxwell Smart often used to describe some of the super-villains he faced on the TV spy show GET SMART in the 1960s. The same statement may be applied to Michael Moore, the filmmaking darling of the Left who has made another polemical documentary, CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY, this time calling for the replacement of America's capitalist system with a socialist system, including, of course, pro-communist proposals to share all wealth or profits equally.
A talented filmmaker, Moore begins his latest movie by discussing the post-war economic boom in the United States in the 1950s and early 60s...

Walt Disney Company recently announced that Dick Cook, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, is leaving.
Dick was beloved by the best and the brightest in the entertainment industry for his wit and wisdom, but he also brought heart and soul to The Walt Disney Company. Now that he has left, the world will miss him.
Years ago, Dick told me he wanted to put Walt back into the Disney company, and he did just that by committing to make movies with romance but no sex, action but no violence and dialogue but no foul language. He lifted the company out of the doldrums and presided over an incredible string of successes such as the Pixar movies, REMEMBER THE TITANS, SIGNS, LILO & STITCH, THE SANTA CLAUSE, THE PRINCESS D...

Many of you know that one of the largest protest demonstrations in U.S. history was held in Washington D.C. on September 12, 2009. Or do you? Coordinated by The FreedomWorks Foundation, the nascent Tea Party Patriots and a number of other organizations attracted people from all 50 states, protesting arrogant big government, loss of liberties, excessive spending, higher taxes, gross incompetence, and corruption. They were instead advocating smaller, more responsive government, integrity, lower spending and taxes, more independence, and a return to a constitutional republic, with higher moral standards.
The "news" media not only greatly minimized the size and scope of the event and movement, when those were even mentione...

Dartmouth grads Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have long wanted to do a movie version of their favorite book as a child, CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS.
Thus, when Sony approached them about doing some movies with them, they jumped at the chance to do the movie version of the book when they heard that Sony had the property rights.
"We forced them to let us make it," Miller said with a slight chuckle. "We just commandeered the meeting."
About seven years later, their delightful movie has finally reached the moviegoing public, opening to some of the year's best reviews, including MOVIEGUIDE®.
Clearly, these two young men had a strong vision of what this movie should be, and have carried it out in magnificent...

Veteran actor Gavin MacLeod, star of such popular TV shows as THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, THE LOVE BOAT and MCHALE'S NAVY, and such famous movies as OPERATION PETTICOAT with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis, and KELLY'S HEROES with Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, Don Rickles, and Telly Savalas, says being an ambassador for Jesus Christ is the biggest honor of his life.
He said his new movie, THE SECRETS OF JONATHAN SPERRY (where he delivers a magnificent, winsome, redemptive performance that inspires the soul), which opens today, has already led many people to give their lives to Jesus Christ.
MOVIEGUIDE® Publisher Dr. Ted Baehr interviewed Gavin just before the movie's opening weekend.
Gavin began t...
