By Dr. Ted Baehr, Publisher As you may have heard, MOVIEGUIDE® is asking Hollywood to end its failed ratings system and institute a standards-based Entertainment Code of Moral Decency similar to (but slightly updated from) the old Production Code that created the Golden Age of Hollywood. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), which runs the ratings system for the six major movie studios in Hollywood, is vulnerable, what with all the new competition from Cable, Satellite and the Internet. Now is the time, therefore, to help Hollywood regain the wholesome quality and financial success of its Golden Age, when it was a wonderful life in America because Mr. Smith went to Washington, Ricky still loved Lucy, and the Bells of St. Mar...

Gitmo Idol
September 03, 2009

By Jeff Holder, Managing Editor An animated Hugh Hewitt? Singing terrorists? Doesn't one of them look like Keith Richards? And, what's this doing at TownHall.com? All this is part of the new short animated film, "Guantanamo Idol," a parody starring (among others) President Obama, House Speaker Pelosi, and Barney the dinosaur. Animation director Bob Arvin says, "The whole idea is to use humor and parody to get a political point across. The creative folks left of center have been doing it for decades and doing it well. I just thought it was time that we conservatives use humor and parody to get our point of view across. I truly think that one funny skit can do more to persuade than a million speeches. And, if it involves singing terrorists...

Obama's “Stimulus” Bill Funds Federal Porn Projects!!!
September 02, 2009

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) has revealed that the Democrat Party's $789 billion economic "stimulus" bill, signed by President Barack Obama last winter, is funding pornographic material produced through the federal government's "National Endowment for Fine Arts."   Among the projects are a homosexual movie described as a "kinky art porno horror film" featuring an orgy involving bi-sexuality and bestiality and a dance piece featuring two naked people rolling on the floor together.   "This is an outrage," ADF Special Counsel Pat Trueman said. "People are hurting financially, and our federal government is funding pornography?"   The NEA has been allotted $80 million in total from the bill.   A recent USA Today/Gallup Poll showed...

Tough Times in Porn Industry
September 02, 2009

The "adult entertainment business" (i.e., the pornography industry) is not only having a tough time battling the current economic recession, it's also having to fight a growing increase of free content on the Internet.   "It's the free stuff that's killing us, and that's not going away," said Dion Jurasso, owner of Combat Zone, a pornography company whose business has fallen about 50% in the last three years.   Industry insiders figure that revenue has decreased 30 to 50% since 2007, including a sharp fall in the number of new movies.   "The opportunities in this industry really are disappearing," says "actress" and stripper Savannah Stern, whose income has gone from $150,000 yearly to only $50,000. "It's extremely stressful."   ...

Movie Productions Are Fleeing Los Angeles
September 02, 2009

Movie productions are fleeing Los Angeles, not only to Canada but also to states like Louisianna and Georgia, which can offer better value for one's money.   FilmLA, an organization designed to streamline the city's film permit process, estimates that there are about 50% fewer feature film productions being shot in LA than a decade ago. Also, the amount of filming taking place dropped 31% in the second quarter of this year.   "If we don't become more competitive, we are not going to have a film industry in LA," FilmLA spokesman Todd Lindgren said.   The current mayor, Democrat Antonio Villaraigosa, has come under increasing criticism for the runaway productions.   - Source:  The London Telegraph, 08/08/09.  ...
