WATCHMEN Shows Weakness
March 10, 2009

Warner Bros. took a gamble making the vile $150 million R-rated WATCHMEN. On opening weekend it grossed nearly $55 million, which is quite respectable for the average movie. However, a closer look reveals weakness. The director, Zack Snyder's, previous hit, 300, opened at 70.9 million. Paramount's $140 million IRON MAN, with a PG-13 rating, brought in $99 million opening weekend and went on to make $318 in domestic box office. Warner Bros.' PG-13 blockbuster, THE DARK NIGHT, made $158 million opening weekend and was 2008's box office leader with $533 in domestic box office. Warner Bros. own exit polling showed that 65 percent of the audience for WATCHMEN was male. THE DARK KNIGHT's opening weekend came in at a much healthier 52 percent...

It’s Always Darkest Before the Dawn
March 09, 2009

By Dr. Ted Baehr with Dr. Tom Snyder A common joke among Communists during the Cold War was that when they finally conquered the world, they would have to leave one country free to help them determine the prices for goods and services. Prices are determined by the law of supply and demand in a free market.  Government bureaucrats do not have the ability, or the omniscient wisdom, to set the correct prices for goods. Without the marketplace, all they can do is guess or show preference for their pet projects - even if those projects are as outdated as the buggy whip. Every day there are many anxious and accurate foreboding news stories about the collapse of capitalism and republican democracy in the wake of the first few weeks of the impo...

Another Study Links Explicit Lyrics to Teen Sex
March 09, 2009

Once again, a scientific study has found an apparent connection between the type of music teenagers listen to and the age at which they begin to have sex. The new study, conducted by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, found that 44.6% of those exposed to the most sexually explicit, most "degrading" lyrics had engaged in pre-marital sex, but that only 20.6% of those exposed to the least explicit lyrics had engaged in such immoral promiscuity. Overall, 31% of the 711 teenagers age 15 to 16 had had intercourse. Thus, by not protecting your teenager from explicit sexual lyrics, you double your child's chances of winding up with a sexually transmitted disease or an out-of-wedlock child. "These lyrics frequently portray aggressive m...

Experts Say Strong Mothers and Fathers Help Children Most!
March 06, 2009

A team of researchers from Child Trends, a nonpartisan research center, reports, "Family structure clearly matters for children, and the family structure that helps children the most is a family headed by two biological parents in a low-conflict marriage." This, and many other studies, refute the contention by homosexual activists, liberals and some "moderates" that homosexuality has no negative effects on society, families or children. Please don't buy the media's lies and misinformation about homosexuality, same-sex marriage and adoption! - Source:  Los Angeles Times, 09/19/08.   ...

Clint Eastwood Knocks Political Correctness
March 06, 2009

Clint Eastwood, director of the MOVIEGUIDE® Award-winning movies GRAN TORINO and CHANGELING, doesn't like political correctness. He said people live in fear of being labeled a racist for telling ethic jokes or jokes about nationality. "People have lost their sense of humor," Eastwood said. "In former times we constantly made jokes about different races. You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth. Otherwise, you will be insulted as a racist. I find that ridiculous. "I don't want to be politically correct. We're all spending too much time and energy trying to be politically correct about everything." MOVIEGUIDE® also notes that, by bandying the word "racist" around so much, the term tends to lose its meaning when it real...

British Gov’t to Parents: Don’t Push Morality on Your Kids!
March 06, 2009

The British government is putting out a leaflet telling parents to avoid convincing their teenage children about the immorality of pre-marital sex. "Trying to convince them of what's right and wrong may discourage them from being open," the leaflet, titled "Talking to Your Teenager About Sex and Relationships," says. Instead, your child should be encouraged to "form their own views." Never mind all the sexually transmitted diseases that come with pre-marital sex, including the deadly AIDS virus spread by homosexual activities. - Source:  London Sunday Times, 02/22/09.   ...

MOVIEGUIDE® Protests Rating for ‘Watchmen’ Movie
March 06, 2009

MOVIEGUIDE®, through its sister organization, The Christian Film & Television Commission®, has filed a complaint with the Motion Picture Association of America about the R rating for the movie ‘Watchmen,' which opens tonight after midnight.  "This movie contains extreme violence, nudity, and sex, including rape" said Dr. Ted Baehr, chairman and spokesmen of the Commission. "Throughout most of the whole picture, one male character walks around completely naked, with his private parts waving in the breeze. "This kind of content used to be rated X or NC-17," Dr. Baehr added. "The motion picture industry keeps changing its standards. No wonder the MPAA's rating system confuses parents." Dr. Baehr said, "The MPAA office told us ...
