A GREATER YES: THE AMY NEWHOUSE STORY Summary:

A GREATER YES: THE AMY NEWHOUSE STORY is the true story of a Christian teenager who leads a revival when she must battle cancer while never losing her faith in God. Though a low budget production that’s a bit too talky, this movie has a strong, poignant Christian message that will inspire the whole family.

A GREATER YES: THE AMY NEWHOUSE STORY Review:

A GREATER YES: THE AMY NEWHOUSE STORY is the true story of Amy Newhouse, a teenage girl full of faith who must battle cancer while having faith against the odds.

Amy is a very popular girl with a boyfriend, loving family, and a love for short-term missions. As she begins leading a prayer group at school and befriending Jordan, the school’s outcast, she loses her popularity.

Then, she is stricken with cancer and begins chemotherapy. As she does, the school begins to rally around praying for Amy. Soon, the whole town is praying for her. After awhile, the attitudes of the teenagers change, and they start to embrace the outcast.

Amy spreads joy and understanding to all she meets including her hospital roommate, a young girl. She never doubts whether God will answer her prayer. However, what she learns is that the “yes” from God was not what she expected, but was instead a “greater yes.” Revival breaks out in the school and in the town, even with the outcast Jordan. Her struggle with cancer touches the hearts of many because she never lost faith, even when others did.

The movie A GREATER YES has its heart in the right place. The message is compelling, the emotion strong, and it’s a story that no parent can watch without being moved. The role of Amy is played well, though most of the supporting cast is a bit weak.

The story is very moving, but the script tells but doesn’t show the plot points. All of the scenes are characters talking with no action. Amy’s character is so perfect that she is always perky, even going through the hardest times.

The movie has no objectionable content and is a moving story for all ages.
