James McEachin brings The Old Soldier to the Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum Memorial Day Weekend 2011

Silver Star and Purple Heart veteran, James McEachin stars as The Old Soldier in three Memorial Day weekend performances of “Above the Call; Beyond the Duty” at Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum in downtown Los Angeles. The play is set to run May 28, 29, 30, 2011 and is designed to honor veterans and incite pride and patriotism in all Americans.

May 2011 Los Angeles, CA – Following on the heels of an Old Soldier performance during the christening of the USS Lt. Michael Murphy in Bath, Maine this past weekend, McEachin prepares to perform Above the Call; Beyond the Duty, his one-man play, at the Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum on Memorial Day weekend. The play, written and performed by McEachin, opens for an exclusive three-day stint at the Mark Taper Forum on May 28, 2011 and ends with a matinee performance on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011. With mind-bending precision, McEachin’s Old Soldier character pries open tough issues left in the wake of battle, boldly confronting challenges that are facing those serving in our military today while reconciling the spirit of one who has killed in war. The play runs approx. 75-minutes and ends on the thoughtfully reverent soliloquy entitled Home for the Brave, a salute to American servicemen and women, veterans who have served in the United States Armed forces, and the family friends and loved ones who continue to sacrifice for our freedom.
