Movieguide® has joined the Be Aware: PORN HARMS National Awareness Campaign, a four-week campaign highlighting the pandemic of addiction caused by adult pornography.
Leading the campaign is The War on Illegal Pornography, a coalition of more than 100 national and state groups whose goal is to stop the distribution of illegal pornography,
“Addiction would all but disappear if the U.S. Department of Justice would vigorously enforce criminal laws against the major producers and distributors of adult pornography,” said Patrick Trueman, president of Morality in Media, one of the main groups leading the coalition.
“The evidence of addiction to pornography is now so overwhelming it cannot be denied,” said Dawn Hawkins, director of the campaign. “The harm it causes is great.”
“Movieguide® stands firmly behind this campaign and The War on Illegal Pornography,” said Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®. “The evidence is indeed overwhelming that sexual depictions in the media are addictive, create sexual offenders who have to be locked away and do great harm to children and teenagers, not just adults and families.”
The campaign kicked off this week with a series of activities.
A list of activities can be found at the website, www.PornHarms.com/beaware. Free posters for printing or website use are also available there.
