Humpty tries to convince Puss to work with him to steal some magic beans from Jack and Jill. The beans can grow into a giant beanstalk leading to the clouds where the golden goose lives. Humpty wants the goose’s golden eggs, a rich and rare find. Reluctantly, Puss says yes, thinking he could pay back the town if he gets a golden egg.

PUSS IN BOOTS is very well made, with beautiful 3D animation. The plotline is sometimes complex, but overall it’s funny and entertaining. There are some sexual undertones not usually seen in a family movie, such as when Puss wakes up next to a female cat not knowing her name. Overall, however, PUSS IN BOOTS has a strong moral worldview, with redemptive elements. It condemns revenge and shows the importance of family, but the sexual undertones are require caution.

More Detail:

PUSS IN BOOTS stars the furry cat from the SHREK movies in his own adventure where he strives to help his hometown. With incredible 3D effects, PUSS IN BOOTS is entertaining, fun, and family oriented, but does have some sexual undertones requiring caution.

Puss is the infamous outlaw who was once an orphan in a small town. Taken in by the local orphanage keeper, Puss loves her as a mother. At the same time, Puss makes a brotherhood with Humpty Dumpty, another orphan. Humpty dreams of finding magic beans that will grow into a bean stalk leading to the clouds where the golden goose lives. The golden goose is able to produce golden eggs, a rare and rich find. Humpty would love to have those eggs. So, with the help of Puss, he invents ways to steal so one day he can steal a golden egg.

Knowing the right thing, Puss argues with Humpty about stealing, but Humpty does not give up his urge and tricks Puss into helping him steal from the small town’s bank. Puss is caught red handed but runs from the police, leaving Humpty in the jail. Never stopping, Puss is running from the law, until one day he hears of magic beans and runs into Humpty. Humpty once again tries to convince Puss to work with him to steal the beans, which are now in the hands of Jack and Jill. Hesitant, but missing his friend, Puss says yes, thinking that he could pay back the town if he gets a golden egg.

PUSS IN BOOTS is very well made, with beautiful 3D animation. The plot line does seem slightly convoluted at times with long “ride-like” scenes, but overall it’s funny and entertaining. There are some sexual undertones in the movie that are not usually seen in a family movie, including when Puss wakes up next to a female cat, not knowing her name.

Overall, however, PUSS IN BOOTS has a strong moral worldview, with an aspect of redemption. For example, the movie condemns revenge and shows the importance of family. Eventually, Puss in Boots learns to do the right thing, but the sexual undertones are disconcerting and require caution for young children.
