Miracles in South Asia:
Spreading Media Wisdom in India and Bollywood
Date: November 13, 2012
Mumbai, India – Christian media leader Dr. Ted Baehr reports that a trip in India to spread redeeming the mass media of entertainment and media wisdom on the subcontinent, has been a great success.
“India has been miraculous,” Dr. Baehr said.
This is the first trip to India he’s made in more than 25 years. In addition to his expertise as a Christian theologian and evangelist, Dr. Baehr is a family advocate and renowned pundit. He’s also the founder and publisher of Movieguide®, the family guide to movies and entertainment.
“Several leaders in India said our ministry transformed their lives 25 years ago,” he noted. “Several said they started their ministry because of our witness and teaching. They want to redeem Bollywood and the entertainment industry in India.”
So far, Dr. Baehr has spoken to entertainment industry and Christian leaders in Hyderabad and Mumbai and at special events, schools, banquets, and churches.
“People flew from around the world to meet us,” he added. “Several universities and individuals want to help with MOVIEGUIDE® India and teach THE CULTURE-WISE FAMILY book.”
Dr. Baehr also said that interviewers coming all the way from German interviewed him and Vice President Robert Baehr about Movieguide® and the Christian Film & Television Commission ministry.
“God is truly blessing us,” he concluded.
The trip to India follows an extensive visit to South Korea.
Dr. Baehr is chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® (CFTVC) ministry and director of its family guide to movies and entertainment, Movieguide® (www.movieguide.org). CFTVC and Movieguide® are an international non-profit ministry, advocacy group, and watchdog dedicated to “redeeming the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media.”
Each year before the annual Oscar® ceremony, Movieguide® honors the most family-friendly, inspiring movies and television programs with morally and spiritually uplifting content and Christian values. It also releases the Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry, a comprehensive economic analysis that shows Hollywood that inspiring, family-friendly movies with Christian, biblical, moral, and redemptive content make the most money, especially when compared to movies with graphic violence, explicit nudity, extreme sex, and excessive foul language.
The 21st Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in the heart of Hollywood.
