RIDE ALONG tops the weekend
The action police comedy RIDE ALONG topped the weekend with very strong showing for January. LONE SURVIVIOR came in a strong second and the new family animated movie THE NUT JOB came in a solid third. JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT was a bit soft in fourth.   In fifth place was FROZEN which has been a stunning success. It surpassed Pixar’s MONSTERS UNIVERSITY to become the top Disney Animated release of 2013, and it’s not that far from DESPICABLE ME 2, which hold the top spot in 2013 animated movies.

The major studios appear to be on a violence binge. In an era when many are calling for gun control, Hollywood appears to be out of control in its love for guns and explosions.
