Half of U.S. Children Are Assaulted Each Year
February 4th, 2010
A federal study recently reported that half of America's children age 17 and younger have been assaulted in the past year, with more than 10% actually having been injured during the attack.
The study also found that more than 60% of America's children had either direct or indirect exposure to actual violence.
Publishing the report, which received support from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was the U.S. Dept. of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
This case study clearly shows the actual dangers of the continued depiction of graphic violence in the mass media of entertainment. Thousands of scientific studies have confirmed the causal link between media depictions of violence and real acts of violence and aggression.
