TREMORS

…rs would stoop to such a level. For the sake of your stomach and your soul, do not see the film nor let anyone whom you have influence over see it either, even if it becomes a cult classic, as indicated by some of the secular reviews…. Continue reading

Movieguide®’s Global Impact: A Worldwide Mission to Redeem the Culture Through the Mass Media

…percent. There is much more hard work to be done, however. Despite 25 years of toiling in this crucial mission field, Movieguide® is still under-budgeted and under-staffed. For example, because of lack of funding, we have few reviews of all the Internet, television, video game, and musical programming that children and teenagers consume. Yet, many parents allow their children to consume tons of material in these cultural arenas, especially in the… Continue reading

That’s Popcorn Robbery!!!

…the kid . . .” Sometimes, rather than give a recommendation at all, a parent will simply not tell friends about a movie. Worse, they may warn friends and family against seeing it, especially if they consult the comprehensive reviews on MOVIEGUIDE®’s family-friendly website, www.movieguide.org. If you’re a parent who loves movies and you go to Apple movie trailers to see what’s coming out soon, you have to see six posters for movies you can only… Continue reading

Movieguide’s Cannes Diary

…rtained to us. So I edited and Evy went to two small movie screenings. End of story. Haha! So Monday… Day 6. Things started to get busier, but in a different way. We have a backlog of video to edit and film notes to turn into reviews… but we’re also much more exhausted than we were at the beginning of the week, and so we seem to want to “take breaks” more often. I murdered my leather shoes yesterday. I was NOT expected the downpour that we receiv… Continue reading

TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL

TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL is a pretty hilarious spoof of modern horror movies. It’s far funnier than other spoofs like the big budget SCARY MOVIE franchise, but it does contain the kind of strong foul language and extremely bloody violence of the movies it’s spoofing, though the sexual content is surprisingly light considering the kind of movie it’s mocking. The story setup will be familiar to MOVIEGUIDE® readers who read our reviews of horror… Continue reading

Professing Themselves To Be Wise, They Became Fools

…l socialists with occultism and hedonism. I lived in an apartment with four women and consistently partied way into the night. Even so, I was the editor of the NYU Law School Newspaper and several prestigious law journals and reviews. Encouraged by academic and other “so-called success,” I became increasingly like Dawkins, part of the strident and arrogant nomenklatura who foolishly assumed that they were right and that people of real… Continue reading

Building a Reel Legacy – Accomplishments, 2010

…ur promotion of our main website and its new design, www.movieguide.org, helped it reach new heights of visibility, averaging 7 million hits and more per month and allowing us to start selling a new iPhone application for our reviews. Furthermore, working with a coalition of Christians, we helped deprive Comedy Central’s planned blasphemous series on Jesus, “JC,” of advertiser support – for now.   Thank God the 18th Annual Awards Were Incred… Continue reading

THE REAL CANCUN

We try not to use personal stories in Movieguide® reviews, but my experience at THE REAL CANCUN truly lends itself to a slight bending of the policy. As I requested a ticket for this movie, the gentleman at the ticket counter said, “Are you sure, ma’am?” After assuring him that my only interest was as a reviewer, I was ushered into the empty theatre. I was literally the only patron of this movie at a 7:30 showing! After being s… Continue reading
