Content:

(HH, LLL, VVV, SS, NNN, DD, MM) Strong humanist, nihilistic, heartless worldview where an evil serial killer acts as judge, jury, torturer, and executioner of criminals, junkies and other people with deep character flaws; at least 90 mostly strong obscenities and three strong profanities; extremely graphic violence with lots of blood and gore involving torture, mutilation, a lengthy autopsy scene, and shootings, plus child has bruises on her arms reflecting some kind of physical abuse; brief scenes of fat serial rapist attacking women he has tied to a bed; shots of full male nudity in autopsy scene; no alcohol use; brief smoking and references to drug addicts; and, kidnapping, bondage, obsession, taunting other people, bad guys get away with their crimes.

Summary:

In SAW IV, though he is dead, the evil serial killer Jigsaw’s tape-recorded voice challenges a black detective named Rigg to save two other detectives who were working on the case. Of course, the new boring, despicable SAW movie is full of the same graphic amounts of blood, gore, violence, and foul language as the previous ones.

Review:

In SAW IV, though he is dead, the evil serial killer Jigsaw’s tape-recorded voice challenges a black detective named Rigg to save two other detectives who were working on the case. The two detectives are tied to a Jigsaw contraption that will surely kill them in 90 minutes. Jigsaw leads Rigg through a gruesome series of tests helping other victims survive Jigsaw’s torture traps. As in most of the tests, the victims have character flaws that are part of the test. Meanwhile, two FBI agents follow Rigg’s trail. They come to suspect that Jigsaw had a second accomplice besides Amanda, a woman who appeared in the previous movies.

Of course, the new SAW movie is full of the same graphic amounts of blood, gore, violence, and foul language as the previous ones. It opens with an extremely graphic autopsy scene with Jigsaw’s dead nude body. It ends with a twist that ties everything into the ending in SAW III. There is also a subplot involving a serial rapist who gets trapped in one of Jigsaw’s torture devices. These new torture movies are boring and despicable. If no one goes to them, Hollywood will not make any more of them. Please help MOVIEGUIDE® convince the general movie audience to shun these movies. That takes constant prayer and lots of donations to make a truly significant difference.
