The re-release of the Academy Award winning movie THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH brings to the big screen all of the excitement and grandeur of the three-ringed wonder, THE RINGLING BROTHERS/BARNUM AND BAILEY CIRCUS. This Cecil B. DeMille epic utilizes the real-life circus as a backdrop to tell the drama of the circus at a time when performing without a net was standard. With the drama often cutting to narrated sequences of the circus’ behind-the-scenes routine, as well as clips of actual acts and exhibitions, this hybrid of drama, romance, documentary, and show business blends its many elements into an exciting three-ring circus of its own.

In the center ring is the story of Brad, the manager, and his budding romance with his star aerialist, Holly (Betty Hutton), who is locked in a profesional rivalry with the new aerial star Sebastian (Cornel Wilde). Also, occupying the center ring is the story of showgirl Angel, who is being pursued by the insanely jealous Klaus, the animal trainer. Sometimes corny, sometimes predictable, but never dull, the story provides a perfect insight to life under the big top. The re-release of this movie to the big screen is a windfall for children of all ages. If you love the circus, you will not want to miss THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH.
