AL FRANKEN: GOD SPOKE

"If God Were a Vulgar Socialist. . ."

What You Need To Know:

AL FRANKEN: GOD SPOKE follows political comedian Al Franken around to public meetings, book signings, and political conventions. It documents his efforts to help start the liberal Air America Radio and to get John Kerry elected president in 2004. Franken apparently believes that if Rush Limbaugh can claim “talent on loan from God,” then he can counter by dressing up as God and saying God commanded him to combat conservatives in the media. The movie concludes with Franken considering running for the Senate in 2008 and verbally pondering cleaning up his jokes and being less offensive.

AL FRANKEN: GOD SPOKE is a God-mocking documentary liberally laced with obscenities and profanities. It is produced by those who believe the path to salvation is the election of socialist politicians who will punish “the rich,” institute government-rationed medical care, provide income security for the promiscuous, and give massive federal funding to public schools that force children not to believe in God and His definition of righteousness. The movie has a very strong humanist worldview with very strong politically-correct, pro-socialist elements. If God were a vulgar, anti-biblical socialist, then Al Franken would be divine.

Content:

(HHH, AbAbAb, PCPCPC, SoSoSo, LLL, M) Very strong humanist, God-mocking worldview promoting politically correct, liberal socialist Democrat philosophy, with some rank humor about private parts growing out of a man’s forehead; more than 25 obscenities and profanities, plus people call each other liars and title and opening of movie mocks a calling from God, plus man dressed as God holds ten commandments and claims one of them is a command from God to combat conservative television and talk show hosts as well as President Bush; no violence, sex or nudity; no alcohol; no smoking, and, slander against political opponents, including slander posing as jokes.

More Detail:

Political comedian Al Franken apparently believes that if Rush Limbaugh can claim “talent on loan from God,” then he can counter by dressing up as God holding Ten Commandments and saying God commanded him to combat conservatives in the media. AL FRANKEN: GOD SPOKE is a documentary about Franken doing just that. It follows him around to public meetings, book signings, and Democrat and Republican political conventions. It documents his efforts to help start Air America, a radical liberal radio network that is literally bankrupt.

Most of the movie covers a period during the 2004 presidential campaign with Franken working as hard as he can for John Kerry. The movie makes clear the pain suffered by liberals who truly believe they know what’s best for the world when they are not in control of the government. They honestly believe their opponents spew hatred and lies while they have truth and justice on their side. They believe they stand on the moral high ground of “economic justice,” which they define as redistribution of wealth (a socialist platform), not as financial gain related to higher levels of skill, hard work and productivity.

Franken has confrontations with Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity. He frequently criticizes Rush Limbaugh. Segments from his appearances on Saturday Night Live appear throughout the film. He has friendly visits with Al Gore, Michael Moore and Walter Mondale, who tells him liberals are in danger of being marginalized because “we’re not people of religion.”

The movie clearly shows that Franken expected Kerry to win the presidency in 2004. The day of the election he is shown gleefully practicing “rubbing it in.” The day after the election he is shown in near shock. The movie concludes with Franken considering running for the Senate in 2008 and verbally pondering cleaning up his jokes and being less offensive.
