More Detail:

In GOLD DIGGERS: THE SECRET OF BEAR MOUNTAIN, 13-year old Beth and her mother travel from Los Angeles to Wheaton, Washington. Bored with her new surroundings, Beth soon meets another 13-year old, Jody Salerno, who is a social outcast. Although warned to stay away from Jody, Beth develops a close friendship with her. Both girls’ fathers have died, but Jody’s mother drinks to forget her loss, while Beth’s mother reaches out to help her daughter adjust to not having a father. The girls grand adventure takes place on June 21, 1983, as they explore Bear Mountain and its old mining trails searching for Molly Morgan’s lost gold mine. Jody teaches city-girl Beth how to adapt to life in the woods.

GOLD DIGGERS does not resort to sex, nudity or violence for thrills. Instead, the film depends on breathtaking scenery, a dare-devil adventure and a bond of friendship to accomplish its goal. The movie has only a few mild expletives and one exclamatory profanity; however, Jody hints at sexual things in one scene. There is no sex shown, although Jody’s mother lives with her boyfriend and they both drink, but neither are shown drinking. The violence includes a brief fist fight, a bear scare and a girl pinned down by a falling rock. Lackluster, GOLD DIGGERS contains messages of family values without resorting to undesirable elements.
