Review:

GOTTA DANCE is a delightful documentary that follows the experience of a senior citizen dance team called the NETsationals that performs at New York Nets home basketball games.
GOTTA DANCE follows the journey of the first NETsationals team from tryouts, through challenging rehearsals, until they make their halftime show debut. They achieve local stardom as they make various appearances on television and local events. The NETsationals have to compete with the 20-somethings. Despite fashion crises and swollen ankles, they are able to learn the nearly impossible dance routines and succeed in getting fans everywhere.
GOTTA DANCE carries a strong message that it is never too late to see your dreams come true, and that everyone should get a chance to do that. The NETsationals inspire the crowds to overcome. If this group of average senior citizens can dance professionally, then anything’s possible!
The production quality of the film is acceptable, and the story is very well structured. The movie makes a point of introducing the audience to each of the contestant’s personal life story. Viewers get to watch the NETsationals become a close group of friends that really rely on one another, work as a team, and share in each other’s victories and defeats.
Caution is warranted for some minor foul language and suggestive dance moves and uniforms on the younger female cheerleaders.
GOTTA DANCE is an enjoyable movie that will leave its audience feeling uplifted and inspired.
