MIDNIGHT RECKONING

What You Need To Know:

MIDNIGHT RECKONING is a jeopardy-filled, “Twilight Zone” thriller with a strong Christian twist. Joe (Bruce Michael Hale) is one of many Hollywood wannabe musicians. He steals drugs from a gang and escapes into the desert. When his car breaks down, he cries out to God. A RV picks him up, and a man named Atlas (Tony Longo) seems to know more about Joe than he should. Instead of driving Joe to Las Vegas, Atlas takes Joe into the desert were Joe has to face his own demons and his life.

Produced on a small budget, MIDNIGHT RECKONING is a surprisingly entertaining movie and an outstanding effort to tell a redemptive story. Even so, the movie uses a twilight zone twist to resolve some issues. The good news is that the movie brings Joe to the point where he has to confront what he has done with his life, seek forgiveness and accept the salvation of Jesus Christ, or be dead by dawn. This is one of the best-orchestrated faith filled movies that will help teenagers and adults confront their own falleness and understand the Truth that will set them free.

More Detail:

IDNIGHT RECKONING is an intriguing, jeopardy-filled thriller with a strong Christian twist. It does not have the surplus of violence that marks many of the contemporary thriller horror movies today, but fits into the “Twilight Zone” genre. With superb cinematography, MIDNIGHT RECKONING is compelling.

Joe (Bruce Michael Hale) is one of the many Hollywood wannabe type musicians who are peddling drugs on the side. He steals a bag full of drugs from a deadly motorcycle gang and escapes into the desert. When his car breaks down, he comes to the end of his own abilities and cries out to God. A large RV stops to pick him up, and a large taciturn man named Atlas (Tony Longo) seems to know more about Joe than he should. Atlas tells Joe that he is there to protect him, but Joe doesn’t want to be protected, he just wants to get to Las Vegas to sell the stolen drugs.

Instead of driving Joe to Las Vegas, Atlas takes Joe into the desert were Joe has to face his own demons and his life. Confronted by death and judgment, he is found wanting without divine intervention.

Produced on a small budget, MIDNIGHT RECKONING is a surprisingly entertaining movie from the first moment when the jeopardy captures the audiences’ attention. Even so, the movie uses a twilight zone twist to resolve some of the issues it raises. Also, the movie looks at the seamy side of life.

MIDNIGHT RECKONING is a successful attempt to crack the anti-supernatural, closed worldview shell of the self-satisfied, modernist, humanists to consider the supernatural realm, both good and evil, and to consider the claims of Christ. MOVIEGUIDE® gives high commendations to the filmmakers for an outstanding effort to tell a redemptive story.
