A LIFE THAT MATTERS tells the story of five hurting individuals. In each story, the person confronts a biblical story that turns his or her life around. Eventually, all their lives are connected through their church.
In the first episode, Kyung has lost his job and shamed his family. He is ready to commit suicide. He needs help. In the next episode, Jose is on the fast track of success, but, in the process, loses his wife, his family and potentially his life. The third episode, Dr. Chandra Sahir, a plastic surgeon, loses her husband and everything she’s worked so hard to achieve. The next episode, George, a tattooed, bearded hulk who loves his Harley, is in search of a ministry. In the final episode, Dana, is living the life of a prostitute while her daughter just wants her mother.
A LIFE THAT MATTERS is incredibly well produced. Every moment captures and holds the viewer’s attention. The scripting is excellent, with good dialogue, intense jeopardy, real situations, and powerful payoffs. The actors do a superb job of bringing character into their roles.
A LIFE THAT MATTERS is one of the best-made Christian teaching tools ever. It is done on a church budget with a Hollywood sensibility. The filmmakers should be commended and thanked, and it should bring many people to Christ and help others grow in faith and values.
