THE WAY BACK HOME

What You Need To Know:

THE WAY BACK HOME tells the story of Spencer Krane, who travels back to his hometown of Sanford, Florida after the tragic death of his wife and unborn child. There, Spencer takes care of his grandmother, Jo, who had a stroke. He also re-establishes contact with his African-American friend, LV, and LV's mother, Maude, who helped Jo raise Spencer after Spencer's parents died. At home, Spencer reevaluates his life, develops hope and begins to understand faith in the God who gives us eternal life.

There are wonderful moments in THE WAY BACK HOME that reaffirm the Christian faith in eternal life, salvation and love. Both Jo and Maude manifest faith, and LV helps interpret their faith to Spencer. Although the movie is lyrically paced, it has a clear plot and jeopardy to hold the audience’s attention. The direction is sometimes too melodramatic, but there are many moments of insight and compassionate drama. A standout is rapper Deezer D, who delivers an infectious, lively performance as Spencer's boyhood buddy, LV. Overall, THE WAY BACK HOME tugs at the heartstrings and delivers a way back home to those core values that make living worthwhile.
