Summary:

NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE is intended to be a parody of the teen movie craze of the late 1990s, with a story about a young man’s attempt to win a bet with an obnoxious friend. NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE amounts to a stringing together of the most memorable and therefore most vulgar scenes from a genre already bent on shocking.

Review:

NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE is intended to be a parody of the teen movie craze of the late 1990s. As such, it contains numerous cheesy references to such MOVIEGUIDE® “rotten bananas” as AMERICAN PIE, CRUEL INTENTIONS and the SCREAM trilogy.

The primary plot revolves around a young man’s attempt to win a bet with an obnoxious friend: convert a dorky girl into the prom queen. Because the girl is, in reality, beautiful by merely taking of her glasses and putting her hair down, he succeeds partially in his quest. She does not win the prom queen award, but he ultimately determines that he really likes her, and he chases her down to tell her this. After finding her, he at first claims he genuinely likes her, but after some prodding, he admits the relationship is primarily sexual for him. Mostly, though, this “plot” operates as a very loose pretext to fill the film with clichés from other teen movies.

In reality, NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE amounts to a stringing together of the most memorable and therefore most vulgar scenes from a genre already bent on shocking. Furthermore, it is poor comedy that elicited few laughs from the unfortunate audience. From a biblical perspective, the movie is totally repugnant and proves nothing more than that American society has plumbed previously unimaginable depths of decadence and immorality over the last 10 years. Please pray that the next 10 years will be more uplifting.
