Review:

Independent animation returns to the screen in Expanded Entertainment's THE FOURTH ANIMATION CELEBRATION: THE MOVIE! The Celebration brings together award-winning films from around the world that were entered in the Los Angeles International Animation Competition and contains everything from viciously efficient Girl Scout Cookie salespeople to a tin-can society living under the pressures of political repression by tyrannical tomato cans. The theme for this Celebration is fun, and the results are impressive, completely unexpected and totally hilarious. Expanded Entertainment is the world's leading distributor of independently produced animated films, and in each year since its inception in 1984, the company has placed at least one animated feature compilation on the top ten list of highest grossing specialty theatrical releases. @@@THE 4TH ANIMATION CELEBRATION: THE MOVIE! is marred by a few obscenities and cartoon nudity. However, all of the segments are clever and humorous--and many are characterized by a kind of tongue-in-cheek wittiness, almost slapstick comedy. In fact, the film brings to mind the Proverb: "A merry heart does good like a medicine" (17:22).
