Watch:

What You Need To Know:

WAR ROOM is a very compelling Christian movie about spiritual warfare. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan have reached the end of their ability to tolerate one another as a married couple. Their daughter, Danielle, is depressed by their constant warfare. Elizabeth is a real estate salesman, and Tony is a highly successful pharmaceutical salesman. Tony is tempted by other women, however, and Elizabeth has grown to hate him. Everything changes when Elizabeth meets Miss Clara, an older woman full of wit and wisdom, who’s selling her home and has some important advice to share with her.

WAR ROOM is spiritually and emotionally powerful. Most viewers will cheer at the end. Although it has some minor problems, such as static dialogue and extra subplots, the movie’s jeopardy truly rivets viewers to the storyline. Also, the emotional power of a family struggling with the world, the flesh, the Devil, and God’s Grace helps the movie transcend its defects. Therefore, WAR ROOM is a must-see movie for Christians. MOVIEGUIDE® hopes it will inspire every Christian who sees it to form a deeper, more active and more real prayer life.

Content:

(CCC, BBB, M) Very strong Christian, moral worldview with an appeal to prayer; no foul language; no overt violence; very light marital affection, but the jeopardy is a potential affair, which doesn’t happen; no nudity; no alcohol use; man sells prescription drugs; and, lying but repented, embezzlement but repented, theft but repented, potential adultery rebuked.

More Detail:

WAR ROOM is a very emotional, compelling Christian movie about spiritual warfare. Although the topic of prayer seems to be elusive as a major plot, the filmmakers of WAR ROOM do a great job of making prayer exciting.

The movie opens with a bang with some scenes of soldiers in combat. Then, it switches to a couple, Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, who seem to have reached the end of their ability to tolerate one another as a married couple. Their daughter, Danielle, is depressed by their constant warfare. Elizabeth is at her wit’s end.

Elizabeth is a real estate salesman, and Tony is a seemingly highly successful pharmaceutical salesman. Tony is tempted by other women, however, and Elizabeth has grown to hate him. Everything changes when Elizabeth meets Miss Clara, an older woman full of wit and wisdom, who’s selling her home.

Elizabeth loves Clara’s home, comes back for coffee with Miss Clara, and Miss Clara shows her, her favorite room, her prayer closet. Miss Clara challenges Elizabeth to put Jesus first in her life and to pray for Tony.

At first, Elizabeth goes into her own closet and has trouble praying. Danielle catches her eating snacks and looking embarrassed. However, soon Elizabeth starts talking to Jesus in a personal way, and the audience sees the answers to prayer when Tony takes a beautiful client out to dinner and gets sick to his stomach from the food just as the client is asking him up to her apartment. Clearly, something is happening.

When Tony’s world crashes down around him, and Elizabeth shows him love not hate, he is brought to his own knees in prayer. Several surprises lead to the codex at the end that calls every Christian to prayer.

WAR ROOM is spiritually and emotionally powerful. The viewer wants to cheer at the end. That said, there are some minor script problems, such as some static dialogue and extra subplots.

That said, the movie’s jeopardy truly rivets viewers to the storyline.
