What You Need To Know:

SHADOW IN THE CLOUD is an action horror movie about a female World War II pilot traveling with a top-secret package on a B-17 Flying Fortress. The crew is suspicious of the last-minute passenger but must go along with her to stay on schedule. With no room on the plane, Maude Garrett rides in the belly gun turret of the plane. Communicating by radio, tensions rise between the crew and Garrett as they wonder what her top-secret mission entails. The all-male crew berates Garrett with sexist comments and excessive crass dialogue. However, the crew’s suspicions are forgotten when a monster starts to attack.

SHADOW IN THE CLOUD has an interesting historical backdrop but opts for a more surreal approach to horror, which sometimes makes the movie more comical than thrilling. For example, Garrett falls out of the plane only to have the explosion of another plane blast her back up into the B-17. Although there is some politically correct feminist elements, SHADOW IN THE CLOUD is also very pro-life. MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for many “f” words and some strong horror-related violence.

More Detail:

SHADOW IN THE CLOUD is an action, horror movie about a strange female World War II pilot traveling with a mysterious top secret passage on a B-17 Flying Fortress, but the crew’s suspicions are forgotten when a monster starts to wreak havoc. SHADOW IN THE CLOUD has an interesting historical backdrop but opts for a more surreal approach to horror, which sometimes makes the movie more comical than thrilling, and the movie has many “f” words and some very strong horror-related violence.

The movie opens with a female pilot, Maude Garrett, walking on a runway toward a B-17 Flying Fortress. The plane is about to take off when she tells them she must transport some top-secret documents. To stay on schedule, the crew allows her on board, but doesn’t believe her story.

On takeoff, they make her sit in the belly gunner, but a kind crewmate offers to look after the top-secret package. Reluctantly, she climbs into the ball turret and now must communicate via radio. The all-male crew locks her in the turret while they try to decide if they trust her story.

While stuck in the turret, Garrett sees a weird creature on the underside of the plane’s wing. The crew is positive she’s not telling the truth. The all-male crew begins to berate Garrett with sexist comments and excessive crass dialogue. Their suspicions are confirmed about her when they check her name with military records. Although she claims to be a pilot, she has no military experience.

It’s revealed that Garrett’s running from an abusive relationship, and one of the crew members is an ex-boyfriend trying to help her escape. However, the crew’s attention is drawn away from Garrett when they, too, witness a gremlin tearing apart their plane. They begin to lose hope when fighter planes start to attack the aircraft as well.

Garrett is desperate to get out of the ball turret and protect the package she brought on board. The crew is struggling to fight the fighters and the monster at the same time. Garrett must gain her composure and do the unthinkable to save her boyfriend and complete her classified mission.

SHADOW IN THE CLOUD has an interesting historical backdrop but opts for a more surreal approach to horror, which sometimes makes the movie more comical than thrilling. In one scene, for example, Garrett falls out of the plane only to have the explosion of another plane blast her back up into the B-17. Although SHADOW IN THE CLOUDS has some politically correct feminist elements, it has a strong moral, pro-life worldview. However, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for many “f” words and some very strong horror-related violence.
