Jenny Marrs shared her “favorite” FIXER TO FABULOUS memory — and reminded us the importance of showing up for our loved ones.

“Five years ago, we surprised my parents with all the kids and grandkids making it to their reveal day,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “We had taken a photo all together that morning on their new front porch. Mom couldn’t figure out how we did it. And then, everyone walked in. But the biggest surprise of all was still to come…”

Marrs continued, “We told Mom we were taking a family photo and our photographer friend was coming in…Then, my Nana walked in. She NEVER flies on an airplane. It was the height of COVID. My mom never expected to see her there that day.”

“I’ll never regret the late nights of planning and the hoops we had to jump through to make this happen,” she wrote. “This moment will forever be my favorite from our seven years of filming. Show up. Be there. It’s always worth it.”

This memory of Marrs’ Nana is bittersweet; the HGTV star shared that her grandmother passed away earlier this month.

“My Nana loved generously and laughed often,” Marrs wrote in an Instagram post. “She was a southern belle who remained fiercely strong, feisty and so beautiful until her final breath. She was larger than life, the world seemed to orbit around her, like the sun. Everyone – including all my friends from childhood – wanted to be near her.”

She continued, “Clinging to the promise that someday ‘there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain’ (Rev 21:3) because, right now, the sorrow feels immense. I’ll love you more for always, Nana. Rest easy (and thank you for giving Donna that big hug for me).”

Marrs has been in a season of grief, as she lost her mother-in-law, two friends and neighbors, and the family’s dog, Dolly, over the past few months.

“In the past six months, our family has grieved the passing of ones we love so very dearly,” she reflected in an Instagram post. “It feels a bit like when I was a kid in the ocean, stuck in a riptide. The waters of grief swirling while my mind and body are disoriented, my footing impossible to find. I can see the sun shining through the murky water, but I can’t seem to break the surface and come up for air.”

Marrs shared that she turned towards Psalm 39:9 — “For I am your guest — a traveler passing through, Just as my ancestors were before me.”

“I’m just His guest here. This world is not my home,” she continued. “I know this yet I forget it so often. And, just like my ancestors before me, may I approach each day as a chance to live out my faith by loving others around me well. May I seek joy in the midst of sorrow. May I hold onto Hope despite circumstances. May I hold fast to my Father’s hand and follow Him on great adventures. For my time here is brief. May I make the very most of it and not miss a single, beautiful, hard, wonderful, miraculous moment of the ride.”

Marrs has endured a lot of loss this year, but the HGTV star keeps her focus on the happy memories she shared with her loved ones, as well as her faith in God.
