Candace Cameron Bure opened up about the moment in her faith walk that she realized she needed a savior.

“I was a really good kid and a really good person,” she said on Madison Prewett Troutt’s “Stay True” podcast.

“I truly didn’t think my sin was bad enough that God needed to save me,” Bure admitted. “I was given a book by my brother. It talked all about 10 Commandments in light of God’s standard of goodness. I’m like, oh, okay, so I’ve broken this standard.”

Bure explained that the book gave her a true understanding of the gospel.

“[I] then understood that, well, God’s going to judge you by His standard of goodness, not the world’s standard of goodness, so God is going to judge you by His standard when you die. How do you think it’s going to go? And so for the first time in my life, I saw myself as a sinner in need of God’s grace,” she revealed.

The Great American Family actress continued, “I went, ‘oh, so He did die for me. I’m one of those sinners.’ It took more than 10 years for me to truly understand the gospel, and once I did, I had such a heart full of gratitude that God would love me so much that He would save me a sinner, that I [get to] be with Him in heaven for eternity.”

“It changed my relationship with Him forever from that day forward,” she concluded.

People in the comment section appreciated Bure’s vulnerability.

“This is soooo good!!!” one person said. Another fan commented, “Another special human, living boldly for Christ!! Can’t wait to watch this episode!”

Romans 3:11-12 reminds us that we all need a savior. It reads, “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”

Thankfully, through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, God makes a way for our salvation and a renewed relationship with Him.

Bure now lives her life for God and uses her platform to spread the gospel. Recently, she announced the release of her new devotional Rise and Renew.

“There’s so much disappointment in the world, there’s so much brokenness and heartbreak, and I just wanted to remind women and men that there’s always hope and strength and joy that’s found in God and scripture,” she said during an appearance on FOX & FRIENDS of her new book.

Bure continued, “And so, I wrote a 30-day devotional to walk you through that. It is filled with scripture, and then personal reflections from me, and then spaces to think on it and act on it, so I give you little tasks to do daily.”

We all are in need of a savior, no matter how “good” we think we are. Bure’s story is a beautiful reminder that salvation is available for everyone and it is never too late to give your life to Jesus.
