Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Reece Weaver shared the lessons she learned during a recent “season of waiting.”
“The Lord answers prayers in mysterious ways. Sometimes they’re answered beautifully, giving you more than you could ever ask for…and other times, they don’t make sense,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post.
Weaver shared that, over the past few days, her prayer to slow down was answered — just not the way she was hoping. Weaver took a break from the cheerleading team after suffering a still-undisclosed injury.
“The hardest and most fun part of our season was temporarily taken away this year due to a fluke accident, but God was just answering my prayer,” she explained. “And in it all, He revealed Himself to me in ways only He can. He shifted my perspective on so many things and rekindled my passion for dance.”

Weaver continued, “If you feel like you’ve been in a season of waiting, unanswered prayers, exhaustion, or running full gas with no brakes, here’s your reminder today…He’s still working. There’s purpose in the season you’re in. He is working all things together for His glory and for YOUR good.”
“A question I’m asked a lot this time of year is what I’m most thankful for. My circumstances might make you think otherwise, but I am most thankful for the Author of my story,” she concluded. “He’s proven time and time again that He knows what He’s doing, even when I don’t. And that’s true for you today!”
Weaver often shares her Christian faith on social media. In a 2023 Instagram post, she wrote about how she hopes to bring glory to God through her work with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.
“Wherever I go, and whatever I do, may it bring Him glory and shape me into the Reece God has made me to be. God is so faithful and His goodness has been so evident,” she wrote, adding, “It is my prayer that I may be a living testament to people across the world to chase after your dreams. God’s timing, plans, and His purpose for your life, is greater than anything you can imagine. All you have to do is allow God to use you.”
Weaver has also shared her faith in AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS, the Netflix docuseries about the cheerleading squad.
“I pray that whoever watches this one day sees [God] and not me,” she told producers, via Deseret News.
Weaver’s recent post is a reminder that, even when it’s not exactly how we’d hoped, God always answers our prayers.
