$100,000 EPIPHANY PRIZES

Seven Movies and Six Television Programs Vie for Prestigious Epiphany Prizes

at 19th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala Feb. 18

Dr. Ted Baehr, executive producer and host of the 19th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry, announced today the nominees for the $100,000 Epiphany Prize for the Most Inspiring Movie of 2010 and the $100,000 Epiphany prize for the Most Inspiring TV Program of 2010.

 

The awards ceremony will be held Feb. 18 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Universal City, near Hollywood, Calif.

 

The nominees, in alphabetical order with major distributor, for the $100,000 Epiphany Prize for Most Inspiring Movie are:

 

“The Book of Eli” – Warner Bros.

“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” – Fox

“Get Low” – Sony Pictures Classics

“Letters to God” – Vivendi Entertainment

“The Secret of Kells – GKIDs Inc.

“To Save a Life” – Samuel Goldwyn Films

“What If. . .” – PureFlix Entertainment

 

The nominees, in alphabetical order with major distributor, for the $100,000 Epiphany Prize for Most Inspiring TV Program are:

 

“Amish Grace” – Lifetime Network

“Christmas with a Capital C” – PureFlix Entertainment/Gospel Music Channel

“Ice Dreams” – The Hallmark Channel

“November Christmas” – Hallmark Hall of Fame

“The Way Home” – Gospel Music Channel

“When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story” – Hallmark Hall of Fame

 

The Epiphany Prizes, supported by the John Templeton Foundation, are given every year to the best movie ad television program that resulted in a “great increase in man’s love or understanding of God.”

 

The winners will be announced Friday Feb. 18 at the Faith & Values Awards Gala.

 

The John Templeton Foundation (www.templeton.org) serves as a philanthropic catalyst for research relating to what scientists and philosophers call the Big Questions. It supports work at the world’s top universities in such fields as theoretical physics, cosmology, evolutionary biology, cognitive science, and social science relating to love, forgiveness, creativity, purpose, and the nature and origin of religious belief. It also seeks to stimulate new thinking about wealth creation in the developing world, character education in schools and universities, and programs for cultivating the talents of gifted children.

 

The Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala is sponsored by the Christian Film & Television Commission® ministry, founded by Chairman Ted Baehr 26 years ago. The Commission is dedicated to “redeeming the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media.”
