Dolly Parton and Zach Williams Talk About Faith: ‘A Mighty Thing’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Award-winning singers Zach Williams and Dolly Parton recently sat down to talk about their faith after the release of their song “Lookin’ for You.’

“I think for me, obviously, faith being something you can’t see, for me, I’ve seen it, you know,” Williams explained in a clip on Instagram Thursday. “I’ve seen it in my own life. I’ve witnessed things that have happened.”

“I can look back at my life just like when there was Jesus and see all the places in my life where just that tiny seed, mustard seed faith moved mountains, and God was there doing things in moments that I didn’t really realize at the time,” he continued. “And so for me, it’s just something that I hold on to, just knowing that if I just have just a little bit, I could show up and do good things.”

Williams became a Christian in 2012. From then on, he began to make faith-based songs like “Less Like Me,” “Heart of God,” “Sunday’s Comin’” and “There Was Jesus,” which featured Parton’s voice.

Movieguide® recently reported on the artists’ latest collaboration:

Zach Williams just released an extended edition of “A Hundred Highways,” featuring collaborations with Dolly Parton and Lee Brice.

Williams and Parton, who previously worked with him on “There Was Jesus,” teamed up again for “Lookin’ For You,” while the country singer and Brice duetted on “Walls Fall Down.”

…“I thought I was lucky to record ONE song with Dolly,” Williams wrote in an Instagram post. “But to do a second is a dream come true.”

Last month, Williams and Parton released “Lookin’ for You,” a song about crying out for a relationship with Jesus. Some of the lyrics read:

I looked up from down on my knees

And I cried out to Heaven

I could finally see

Jesus, Jesus, I know it’s true

All of my life I was lookin’ for You…

About faith, Parton said, “I grew up in church. My grandfather was a preacher. So I was taught that through God, all things are possible, and I’ve always believed that, and I’ve applied that in everything I do…People say, ‘How in the world do you do everything you do?’ I say, well, I live on spiritual and creative energy, and when I can’t do it on my own, I just try to pull in that faith.”

Parton has often spoken about how her faith affects everything she does and that all things are possible through God. She told Fox last year that she thinks of her relationship with God as her “guiding light.”

“It’s hard to kind of walk by faith and not by sight, to…believe in something you can’t see but when people [have] faith though, you really feel like you really need that so you just create it,” Parton said. “You know, I just create those images of it in my own mind and really be in there and it really helps a lot. Faith is a mighty thing.”
