Heisman Winner Bryce Young: ‘My Job Is Just To Glorify God’

Alabama Crimson Tide’s sophomore quarterback Bryce Young recently won the most prestigious award in college football, the Heisman Trophy.
The 20-year-old NFL prospect gave the glory to God in his acceptance speech in New York City on Dec. 11.
“First of all, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Young said. “Without Him I couldn’t be here and through Him all things are possible.
“I’d like to thank my dad for always being there for me,” he continued. “From day one, you’ve always been by my side.”

Young is the fourth Alabama player to win the Heisman, but the first quarterback in the school’s history.
Young’s 43 touchdowns and 4,322 passing yards helped him win the award by a landslide with 684 first-place votes. Next in line was Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson, who received 78 first-place votes.
Young later posted a photo from the night, and once again turned the attention towards God.

In an interview from September, Young added that he trusts God’s will for his on and off the field.
“I think [my demeanor] comes a lot from my faith,” Young told TDA’s Stephen Smith. “I feel like that’s really where I get my power from. My job is just to glorify God on the field, and I know that everything is written and I can have faith and trust in that.”
