KLAUS is an animated fantasy about a young postman who teams up with a toymaker named Klaus to deliver toys to children living in a faraway, unhappy town split in two by a terrible feud. LITTLE WOMEN (2019) is the most gorgeous, historically accurate big screen version of the famous book by Louisa May Alcott that’s been made several times in movies and for television. Better yet, LITTLE WOMEN has no foul language, no sex, no nudity, no violence but is a delightful character study with very strong Christian content about a family dealing with real issues during the Civil War. Along with the 2019 version, there were productions of LITTLE WOMEN released in 1994, 2018 and 2018 (PBS).

PARASITE works on many levels, from dark comedy to suspenseful thriller to social commentary, but it has a strong Romantic, politically correct, anti-capitalist, misanthropic worldview with lots of strong foul language, extreme violence, some lewd content, and a bitter, hopeless nihilistic streak.

In MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL, Maleficent is at war with the humans when Philip proposes to Aurora but Philip’s mother is rude to her, so Maleficent gets angry at the mother and curses Philip’s father. MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL is very entertaining, with incredible visuals and costuming, and strong positive Christian, moral elements, but it also has some magic and mysticism set in a fairy tale world and may be very scary for children.

BOMBSHELL is a drama about the reasons behind the Fox News Channel’s firing of long-time CEO Roger Ailes due to accusations of sexual harassment. BOMBSHELL has some first-rate performances, especially by Charlize Theron as former Fox superstar Megyn Kelly, but its message condemning sexual harassment in the workplace is marred by excessive, gratuitous foul language, a few silly political jabs at conservatives, a scene mocking a minor character’s Christian faith, a fictional lesbian subplot that undercuts the movie’s premise, and strong lewd references.

MARRIAGE STORY is a misleading title, because the movie is actually about two married theater people going through a separation and divorce, which becomes increasingly rancorous when the wife hires an aggressive, feminist divorce lawyer. STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is the conclusion to the original two STAR WARS trilogies by George Lucas, where the new female Jedi Knight, Rey, leads a group of rebels to find the secret lair of the evil Emperor Palpatine, who’s healed himself and wants to establish a Final Order using a new fleet of planet-killing spaceships. STAR WARS IX rises above some paint-by-numbers plot mechanics and some serviceable acting to forge an emotional, exciting ending filled with acts of mercy, sacrifice, reconciliation, and hope, but this positive content is marred by a false New Age, pagan worldview and a gratuitous homosexual kiss in one brief scene inserted for purely political reasons.

ROCKETMAN is the story of rock music legend Elton John’s sad childhood and rise to worldwide fame mired by drug and sex addiction and his battle to overcome those problems and achieve happiness until he finally decides to be a homosexual. Dazzling musical numbers and a compelling performance by Taron Edgerton as Elton keep ROCKETMAN flying smoothly, but the R-rated movie has lots of foul language and a mixed worldview with strong Romantic and pro-homosexual elements combined with some strong moral content showing the dangers of substance abuse and proving that money can’t buy happiness.

FROZEN II is a sweet animated sequel that follows Queen Elsa and her younger sister, Princess Ana, as they venture to learn about their past and unlock the secrets of an enchanted forest. FROZEN II provides exceptional, funny, exciting entertainment, with powerful plot points, great animation and a beautiful soundtrack. FROZEN II has a moral worldview about doing the right thing and showcases some allegorical Christian themes of sacrifice and love casting out fear, but a few scenes might scare some younger children and some of the elements are politically correct or pagan.

THE IRISHMAN is an epic gangster movie by Martin Scorsese about an Irish teamster leader and Mafia hit man who allegedly became a protégé and friend of the head of the Bufalino crime family and Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. STAR WARS IX rises above some paint-by-numbers plot mechanics and some serviceable acting to forge an emotional, exciting ending filled with acts of mercy, sacrifice, reconciliation, and hope, but this positive content is marred by a false New Age, pagan worldview and a gratuitous homosexual kiss in one brief scene inserted for purely political reasons.

LITTLE WOMEN (2019)
LITTLE WOMEN (2019) is the most gorgeous, historically accurate big screen version of the famous book by Louisa May Alcott that’s been made several times in movies and for television. Better yet, LITTLE WOMEN has no foul language, no sex, no nudity, no violence but is a delightful character study with very strong Christian content about a family dealing with real issues during the Civil War. Along with the 2019 version, there were productions of LITTLE WOMEN released in 1994, 2018 and 2018 (PBS).

THE TWO POPES
THE TWO POPES is a drama about the transition between the more conservative Pope Benedict XVI and the more liberal Pope Francis, with much of the movie focusing on two meetings between Benedict and Francis where Benedict, who’s getting frail, must decide if he should resign and hand the reigns over to his most likely successor and rival. THE TWO POPES is beautifully produced and acted, but is plagued by some ambiguity and clearly sides with Francis and his Neo-Marxist ideals. It also suggests at one point that the church should change its biblical positions against abortion and perverse immorality.
