Nancy Stafford and Corbin Bernsen hit the red carpet at the 28th Annual Movieguide® Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry where they presented the Faith & Freedom® Award for Movies. Their upcoming movie, FIRST LADY, debuts later this month.
According to IMDB, FIRST LADY is about a woman who is not married to the president who runs for First Lady.
“It’s a fun, lighthearted, PG-rated Romantic Comedy everyone in the family can enjoy together. I think you’ll love it!” Stafford said.
Stafford and Bernsen walked the red carpet at the Movieguide® Awards recently. Both have attended the Movieguide® Awards for years, with Stafford even hosting one year.
“I got to MC one year with Pat Boone,” she said.
Her joy of being at the event shone through as she said, “As long as they invite me back, I’ll be back.”
Bernsen added that the Awards Gala is “still one of my favorite things to come to.”
Movieguide® TV Host Evy Baehr Carroll spoke to each of them on the red carpet about what faith and freedom mean to them.
“It’s a huge theme that I love, that we in this community of people who are trying to do ennobling uplifting work resonate with,” Stafford said.
Stafford continued, “I think it celebrates movies and television that are really all about our founding principles, that are all about what makes us distinctly American. I’m just really honored that that’s the award I get to present.”
Bernsen told Carroll that A HIDDEN LIFE, which was up for an award in the category he presented, was one of his favorite movies from 2019.
“Even just saying it I get chills. It’s weird to me, I’m a little bit frustrated and hurt, by the whole industry, in that it wasn’t recognized as much as I thought it should be,” Bernsen said.
Bernsen is a popular actor and has done a lot family-friendly projects.
“I make really inexpensive movies, let’s say. Part of the trick of that is you just make it about people who care about something deeply,” he said. “You know, you can add all the background of the landscapes and all that but if somebody cares about something deeply, and there’s a problem getting to it, I don’t think you need a lot more.”
