HGTV star Jenn Todryk opened up about her decision to walk away from her hit TV show, NO DEMO RENO.

“I did it the opposite way,” she joked to PEOPLE about her career path, which took her from a social media star to an HGTV figure, then back to social media again.

Todryk explained, “I was the first one that it stuck for on HGTV. I was the first influencer to cross over and it be successful and make it past one season.”

Todryk rose to fame in 2021 on NO DEMO RENO, starring and executive-producing the series. However, in 2023, she made the decision to hit pause on everything.

“Season 1 was great because it was new,” she said but revealed that, by Season 3, she was losing steam.

Todryk said, “I was exhausted at the end of the day trying to wear all the hats,” explaining that, in addition to producing and working on NO DEMO RENO, she was also a mother of three.

“My husband was like, ‘Jenn, you can give up some [control] here or there.’ And I couldn’t do it because I’d been in control of everything that’s online from day one, because I do it myself,” she explained.

Eventually, Todryk decided to take her husband’s advice and take a break to prioritize herself and her family.

“We were talking about Season 4 and what the concept was going to be, and we were about to have a big meeting [with HGTV] the next day, so I called and I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry. I know we’ve been going back and forth for four months on this concept, but I think I need to pause and I’ll let you know when I want to come back or whatnot,’” she recalled.

Todryk added, “It wasn’t, like, this dramatic thing. There’s no beef, no bad blood. I worked really hard to get into this perfect well-oiled machine of comfort and me having so much say in the content and how the show was and I just felt very in control. And then I left.”

She’s been open about prioritizing life with her children. In an Instagram story posted earlier this year, Todryk wrote, “I do think I chose to walk away at the perfect time. I didn’t want my kids to spend their childhood on a ‘set,’ I didn’t want their home and safe space to feel like a set or be at home while I was away.”

So, will fans see Todryk back on HGTV anytime soon?

“I am super grateful that I have a really awesome relationship with HGTV,” she told TV Insider. “I know that the door is open so whenever I want to make content, I can. That’s something I’m really grateful for.”
