THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, based on C. S. Lewis’s popular Christian fable, tells the story of four English children, who enter the land of Narnia, where they meet Aslan, the son of the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea, who rescues the land from the evil White Witch. Despite some minor changes from the book, THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE retains most of its Christian focus and is tremendously exciting, thrilling and redemptive.

KING OF KINGS

THE ROBE

THE ROBE, the first movie released in CinemaScope, is a Biblical epic focusing on the Roman tribune put in charge of carrying out the crucifixion of Jesus. This powerful, redemptive story is similar to that of Paul who at first sought to persecute Christians but then became one.

THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS

Quality:
****
Age:
Older children to adults
THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS is a thoroughly delightful, brilliant, enthralling movie about how Charles Dickens crafted the beloved Christmas classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL and practically invented the way Christmas is celebrated today. THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS is an instant holiday classic, with a marvelous performance by Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens, who delightfully interacts with the characters from his story. It’s one of the best Christmas movies ever made, filled with good will toward men.

THE STAR

THE STAR is a wonderful, hilarious, deeply reverential animated family movie centered on the birth of Jesus, but from the perspective of a lowly donkey named Bo. THE STAR is tremendous fun, with great moral, spiritual lessons along the way. It’s a must-see Christmas movie for every family.

THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL

Quality:
****
Age:
All ages
THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL is a live-action musical that re-tells the classic Dickens story with all our muppet favorites and actor Michael Caine as Scrooge. Of course, the story is a biblical allegory depicting a depraved man who repents of his selfishness and proceeds to show kindness to everyone. It's fun for the whole family with finger-snapping musical numbers, and breathtaking costumes and scenery.

SCROOGE

Quality:
****
Age:
Starring Alastair Sim, this well-crafted and faithful version of Dickens’ classic is so good it can be watched year round. Sim does a marvelous job of bringing Scrooge to life in this heartwarming classic. Furthermore, Tiny Tim is adorable, and the Cratchit family is absolutely heartwarming and tear-jerking.

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Quality:
****
Age:
Jimmy Stewart plays the beleaguered but good-hearted George Bailey, who finds out what life would be like if he’d never been born. A very slight caution is urged because of the false angelology, although the movie is number one on our list because of its emotive revelation of man’s relationship to God, who answers our prayers.

THE NATIVITY STORY

Quality:
****
Age:
All ages
THE NATIVITY STORY tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ in a dramatic, authentic manner. It is one of those very rare movies that brings the Gospel alive in a compelling, interesting, entertaining manner that shatters expectations.
