RATATOUILLE

Quality:
****
Content:
+2 Moderately questionable elements.
RATATOUILLE is a wonderful, savory concoction from the incredible Pixar team in an incredible, but delightful story about a country rat who pursues his dream of culinary greatness among the gourmet restaurants of Paris. Some of the cartoon violence skews toward older children and teenagers, and some moral points are ignored by the dramatic action, but RATATOUILLE has a brilliant light Christian worldview with strong moral elements and very strong sentiments favoring a capitalist meritocracy.

ENCHANTED

Quality:
****
Content:
+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)
In ENCHANTED, an animated heroine is pushed down a well into the cruel, uncaring real world of New York City, where she finds her real love. ENCHANTED turns the archetypal fairy tale story inside out in a delightful, positive, morally worthwhile way.

Quality:
****
Content:
+2 Moderately questionable elements.
ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS re-introduces Alvin, Simon, Theodore, and their protective manager, David Seville, who tries to protect them from a big record mogul. ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS is very funny with a lot of heart and good family values celebrating Christmas.

BELLA

BELLA tells the story of a delightful group of Spanish-speaking immigrants who befriend a young pregnant waitress. BELLA is an amazing movie. The ending of BELLA will bring tears to many eyes.

THE GAME PLAN

Quality:
****
Content:
+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.
In THE GAME PLAN, Quarterback Joe Kingman of the Boston Rebels has the perfect plan to win the Super Bowl, but, first, he has to tackle one little problem – the arrival of the 8-year-old daughter he didn’t know he had, who turns his life upside down. THE GAME PLAN is a very entertaining movie with strong moral values that families should love.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON

Quality:
****
Content:
+3 Some minor questionable elements. (Media-wisdom is suggested to discuss.)
IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON is a documentary about the United States Apollo space program, which sent men to the moon in the late 1960s and the 1970s, and contains interviews with more than half of the remaining moon astronauts still alive. IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON is an intimate, thrilling, epic, patriotic, inspiring, and even funny and spiritually uplifting, first-hand account of a great human endeavor, with positive references to God and His Creation.

SHREK THE THIRD

Quality:
****
Content:
+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)
In SHREK THE THIRD, Prince Charming tries to take over the kingdom of Far Far Away while Shrek and his buddies are searching for another heir to the throne. SHREK THE THIRD is one of the funniest, best-made movies we have seen in some time, with some morally uplifting content, but there are some mean-spirited, gender-bending jokes, so MOVIEGUIDE® urges caution.

THE ULTIMATE GIFT

Quality:
****
Content:
+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.
THE ULTIMATE GIFT is about a smart-aleck young man who goes on a treasure hunt for the gift left to him by his late, rich grandfather. THE ULTIMATE GIFT is just that — a very entertaining, emotional, finely crafted, highly polished gem with a very strong Christian worldview that teaches valuable lessons.

NANCY DREW

Quality:
****
Content:
+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.
NANCY DREW, based on the best-selling teen detective series that sold more than 200 million books, is a wonderfully entertaining concoction about the famous teenage detective uncovering a mysterious plot at a supposedly haunted Hollywood mansion. NANCY DREW is fun, heartfelt, campy, exciting, and blatantly faithful, moral and Christian. Bravo!

BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA

Quality:
****
Content:
+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)
BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA is a family movie about the friendship between a sad middle school boy and a vivacious girl with a precocious imagination, who find solace by creating an imaginary kingdom with imaginary adventures. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA is a brilliantly made family movie with a strong Christian worldview, but it is marred by brief foul language and a brief, but important, theological problem that seems to dilute slightly the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
