"Entertaining TV Movie"

What You Need To Know:

AN UNCOMMON GRACE is a TV movie. Grace is a medical war veteran that returns home to be with her grandmother and sister. One night their neighbor, Levi, knocks on their door to say his stepfather has been shot. Grace goes to help Levi’s family and saves his pregnant mother. While at the hospital, the police find Grace and Levi and tell them this was done by a robber who they’ve been after for a while. Now, Grace is on the lookout for the man who killed Levi’s stepfather.

AN UNCOMMON GRACE is an entertaining Hallmark movie. Though this is the case, the movie does have many plot lines, playing out much like a book. It would have been better to have just one plot line, though the movie entertained throughout its running time. There are some intense elements for younger children, including a man being killed and some deceit. The movie has a moral worldview with some faith, but the Amish bishop is shown to be too harsh. All in all, AN UNCOMMON GRACE is appropriate for middle school and up.

More Detail:

AN UNCOMMON GRACE is a TV movie about a war veteran named Grace, who returns home to find her Amish neighbor has been shot and killed. AN UNCOMMON GRACE is an entertaining television movie, with a moral worldview, but has some unnecessary plot lines.

Grace is a medical war veteran that returns home to be with her grandmother and sister. One night their neighbor, Levi, knocks on their door to say his stepfather has been shot. Grace runs over to their house to find Levi’s stepfather on the ground, and his mother wounded and with child. Levi’s family is an Amish apart of a very conservative Amish sect and could not get to the hospital to save Levi’s mother without Grace driving them. Fortunately, they all make it to the hospital, and the baby is born without any problems. While they are at the hospital, the police find them and say this was done by a robber they’ve been after for some time.

Returning home, Grace immediately questions where her sister is, fearing that the robber is on the loose. Her sister, Becky, is safe but is reserved when Grace questions where she was. Grace goes to check on Levi’s family and is starting to connect, but others from the community say that because they are Amish, they can’t interact with Grace. Though this is the case, Levi has made Grace a beautiful handmade basket for Grace’s medical supplies. Grace’s grandmother tells Grace that Levi has always been different and has been interested in the secular world.

While Levi’s mother is in the hospital, Bishop Weaver of the Amish community has sent his daughter to Levi’s house to take care of the children and help around the house. The Bishop’s daughter tries to seduce Levi, so he will marry her, but Levi doesn’t love her. She sees that Levi has some secular novels in his room and tells her father. Her father then tells Levi that he must repent and marry his daughter.

AN UNCOMMON GRACE is an entertaining Hallmark movie. Though this is the case, the movie does have many plot lines, playing out much like a book. It would have been better to have just one plot line, though the movie entertained throughout. There are some intense elements for younger children, including a man being killed and deceit. Overall though, AN UNCOMMON GRACE would be appropriate for middle school and up.

AN UNCOMMON GRACE has a moral worldview. Though this is the case, the main character is questioning his faith. At the same time, the Amish Bishop is aggressively approaching the main character to repent, even though the Bishop’s daughter lied and tried to seduce him. This, the movie shows that this sect of conservative Amish is too harsh and doesn’t promote grace. However, the title character, Grace, shows love and compassion for Levi’s family and shows a positive representation of faith.
