Former Disney Star Will Protect Future Daughter From Entertainment Industry

Former Disney star Demi Lovato’s new CHILD STAR documentary comes out soon, and she talked about why she plans to keep her future daughter away from the spotlight.
“Lovato entered the world of child stardom at a very young age, first notably appearing on BARNEY AND FRIEND before landing the lead role in Disney Channel’s CAMP ROCK as a teenager and swiftly propelling to superstar status,” PEOPLE reported.
When asked how she would react if her future daughter wanted to be a performer, Lovato said, “I’d say, ‘Let’s study music theory and prepare you for the day you turn 18, because it’s not happening before that. Not because I don’t believe in you or love you or want you to be happy, but because I want you to have a childhood, the childhood that I didn’t have.'”
Lovato would also encourage her daughter to have a “backup plan,” which is “something I wish I’d done because sometimes I think it’s time for me to move on, but I’m in this weird position in my career because I still rely on music for my income.”
Lovato experienced a lot of trauma from her childhood stardom and even said that she has a hard time remembering much after the first CAMP ROCK.
“I think I’d passed the threshold of what I could withstand emotionally and physically,” she told The Hollywood Reporter, as she realized it could be a trauma response. “And I didn’t realize that child stardom could be traumatic — and it isn’t traumatic for everyone, but for me, it was.”
“I think about people in the wardrobe department on my TV show because I’d go in there in bad moods all the time, and I worry about guest stars that came on or the other actors or the people during CAMP ROCK 2,” Lovato added. “And it’s easy to excuse that behavior because I was so young and in so much pain, but I’m really remorseful, and that’s a guilt that stays with you forever.”
Lovato’s life spiraled after finding fame.
“She tried cocaine for the first time when she was 17…and went to rehab for the first time when she was 18. She relapsed and entered rehab again several times before announcing she was celebrating five years of sobriety in 2017. Her 2018 song ‘Sober’ revealed another relapse and later that year she was hospitalized for an apparent overdose. She said she gave up all drugs and alcohol in 2021,” Forbes reported.
CHILD STAR, Lovato’s directorial debut, will dive into the experiences of several Hollywood stars who got their start as kids, including Drew Barrymore, Christina Ricci, Kenan Thompson, Jojo Siwa, Raven-Symone and Alyson Stoner.
Though her life has had its ups and downs, Lovato has spoken about faith in the past. Movieguide® previously reported:
Demi Lovato’s DANCING WITH THE DEVIL on YouTube shows how desperate a person can be for a relationship with the Lord and how Satan is continually prowling to keep us from connecting with God…
Lovato’s faith and spirituality seem to have strayed significantly from the biblical descriptions of Christianity.
However, by her own admission, she knows that only God can fill the deep void in her life. Sex, drugs and music have all left her empty. Fame and fortune brought her only misery…
Lovato seems to know that, as does her inner circle of friends and family. Our prayer is that Lovato will have a supernatural, life-changing encounter with the Holy Spirit that can leave her forever satisfied.
