Dr. Ralph Winter, founder of US Center for World Mission, passed away this week from complications of cancer at 84.
Dr. Winter was the foremost thinker in missions in the twentieth century, most notably leading the movement to reach communities with no existing Christian witness, the "unreached people groups."
"Ralph was a longtime supporter, encourager and very close friend of Movieguide, attending our events and telling us to keep on with our ministry," notes Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®.
In addition to the US Center for World Mission, Dr. Winter founded the William Carey International University and his 1974 address to the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization became a paradigm shift in missions thinking th...

Christianity created Western Civilization. With its biblical principles of love thy neighbor as thyself and the belief all men should have equal opportunity, Christianity not only transformed the brutal, misogynist pagan culture of Rome, it also transformed the barbarian cultures wherever missionaries went. This fact has been pointed out by many of the best historians, including such disparate scholars as Christopher Dawson (RELIGION AND THE RISE OF WESTERN CULTURE), Mircea Eliade, Walter Burkert, and Alvin J. Schmidt (HOW CHRISTIANITY CHANGED THE WORLD).
Recently, a Muslim scholar, Ibrahim Al-Buleihi1, caused an uproar in Islamic circles when he correctly pointed out that all the achievements of modern civiliz...

James Dobson of Focus on the Family has condemned new "hate crimes" legislation in Congress that could give special protection to pedophiles and same-sex marriage.
There is "utter evil" coming from Congress these days, Dobson said, adding:
"The radical left controls the executive branch through the president, and the Congress where the Democrats have control of both the House and the Senate."
The new bill pending in the U.S. Senate, S. 909, would "create penalties against ‘victims' who [are] chosen based on an ‘actual or perceived. . . sexual orientation, gender identity'" writes reporter Bob Unruh of WorldNetDaily.
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said the bill not only could protect pedophiles but also impose same-sex marriage on the st...
Another study - this time a longitudinal tracking children from age 6 to 18 - shows that "the younger children are exposed to content intended for adults in television and movies, the earlier they become sexually active during adolescence."
The study looked at 754 children, 389 females and 365 males, during two stages of life, during childhood and five years later when they were 12 to 18.

The American Psychological Association has released a new statement on homosexuality that backs away from its earlier belief that such sexual perversion is genetic.
Despite years of searching, scientists have yet to find a "gay gene." Scientific research also shows that, whatever one's genetic heritage, moral and immoral behavior, including homosexuality, is a choice.
God does not make homosexuals. He has made created people to be two sexes - either male or female - so that they may marry and, if God wills, have children together as mothers and fathers.

The ratings system by the Motion Picture Association of America just celebrated its 40th Anniversary, but the system remains a horrible enticement to teenagers and young children. It's also still full of holes.
The movie ratings applied by the Motion Picture Association of America (G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17), a cartel owned by the six major movie studios in Hollywood, are designed to attract children and teenagers to adult content. Such content includes softcore pornography like SEX AND THE CITY or MISS MARCH and images of disturbing violence like WATCHMEN or the SAW movies. Consequently, some studio executives in Hollywood, especially the sleazier ones, use the ratings to ...

A Christian teacher, Kwabena Peat, has been suspended from a senior post for complaining about a staff training day used to promote homosexual lifestyles.
"I'm not surprised by all this," Mr. Peat, a father of three children, said, "but I am disappointed. I'm the one being harassed and intimidated - for expressing my religious views."
Ironically, homosexual activists complain loudly and vociferously whenever anyone suggests that people with homosexual behavior should leave their sexuality out of the classroom.
