When it comes to celebrating Christmas, actor Jim Carrey says he prefers the "Judeo-Christian" traditions he and many other people in America grew up on as children.
"I'd hate to miss Christmas," he added.
Carrey, who gives a remarkable performance in A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the new brilliant masterpiece of the beloved novel by Charles Dickens from Disney and Writer/Director Bob Zemeckis, spoke about the movie at a recent press conference MOVEGUIDE® attended in Los Angeles.
At the conference, Carrey also noted that he loves redemptive stories like A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
"Everyone loves a good transformational story," Carrey said. "You know, somebody who sees the light, who finally finds out what's important in life. And, ...
On behalf of Dr. Ted Baehr and Movieguide®, longtime family film advocate Pat Boone spoke with Dan Glickman at the MPAA about the thousands of signatures sent to Movieguide® demanding that the MPAA ratings board rate all movies and be concerned about protecting the eyes of innocent children. The recently "Not Rated" movie ANTICHRIST is the impetus for this outcry.
Glickman assured Boone that he will have the movie ANTICHRIST reviewed again and if it contains the kind of content described, he will send out a warning to theaters, but that the MPAA could not rate a movie that was not submitted for a rating.
"This is a major victory for families, if Mr. Glickman sends a warning to theaters," Baehr says. "However, by allowing producer...

The makers of the vile movie ANTICHRIST chose not to apply for an MPAA rating fearing they would get an NC-17 Rating. As a result, they opened in only six theaters in the US and made a healthy $71,397 on opening weekend (anything over $5,000 per screen is a good box office). Even so, the theatrical run will be short.
The question then becomes will the movie come to your local video store?
Blockbuster's website contains the following response to a "FAQ" (frequently asked question).
"We are retailers and not members of the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), so we take no position on individual scenes or the overall artistic merits of a film. We are not in the content business. We are in the busines...

Rather than expose your children to fear and demonic influences on Halloween, why not introduce them to two wonderful Christian holidays that occur at the same time - All Saints Day and Reformation Day?
All Saints Day takes place on Nov. 1. Historically speaking, it has become primarily a day to honor Christian martyrs who gave their lives peacefully to serve their Divine Savior, Jesus Christ. This is the true definition of a Christian martyr, not someone who murders other people as the Muslims have been doing for nearly 1500 years. Theologically speaking, of course, every Christian is a saint set apart by God by being born again through the power of the Holy Spirit, as predicted...
Behind the Scenes of THIS IS IT
By Jeff Holder, Managing Editor
The filmmakers behind the scenes of the documentary THIS IS IT held a press conference to chat about the movie and about their favorite topic, Michael Jackson.
While Jackson is remembered for things ranging from his influence on popular culture to the allegations of sexual abuse with minors, the filmmakers often spoke of his role as a father.
The movie THIS IS IT only exists, in fact, because of Jackson's commitment to his children. Jackson was rehearsing for a mammoth stage show and hired a film crew to follow the progress of the show and his rehearsals purely to have footage for Jackson to show his children, according to director Kenny Ortega.
With Jackson's untimely ...

This past January, London's Daily Star tabloid announced urgently that an upcoming episode - "the most controversial episode ever"! - of The Simpsons on the Sky1 network "pokes fun at Islam" and "is certain to enrage Muslim fanatics." As anyone who morbidly follows this sort of thing (as I do) knows, enraging Muslim fanatics is hardly an accomplishment of Halley's Comet-like rarity. It doesn't take much: books, cartoons, teddy bears named Mohammad, posters of puppies, piggy banks, a Burger King ice cream swirl and the Nike logo (both of which apparently too closely resembled the Arabic script for "Allah"), are just a few of the recent Western offenses that have sparked their frothing outrage worldwide.

The recent announcement that Disney would be buying Marvel was not exactly greeted with victory shouts of, " I'm going to Disneyworld!" Fans of both companies have strong misgivings about the matchup, and since I spent 20 years hosting the children's radio show, SECRET CLUBHOUSE, they have had no problem seeking me out to let me know what they think about it.
Disney Dads and Mouse Moms are worried about what might be moving into The Magic Kingdom. They point out, rightly so, that many of the Marvel titles are much darker, and contain more adult content, than they did when they were children. They worry that other parents who fondly remember the Spiderman and Hulk of their childhoods, will unknowingly expose their children ...

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is a distinctive movie about a 9-year-old boy named Max who gets into trouble with his mother, runs away from home, and finds a strange island inhabited by large untamed creatures who act as wild as he feels. It's an allegorical tale for older children, teenagers, and adults about love, family, and friendship overcoming anger, bitterness, and rebellion.
The voice actors playing the Wild Things had no idea, however, how Director Spike Jonze wanted them to develop their characters.
"We started off at his [Spike's] house, and we went up into the mountains," said actor Forest Whitaker, who gave voice to the Wild Thing called Ira.
"That's where we started a dodgeball fight up in the hills. Then...
The Barna Group reported Sept. 14 that, at the same time that the number of female senior pastors in mainline Protestant churches has been increasing, the median number of adults during an average weekend going to Protestant church services has dropped.
A large percent of female pastors, 58%, are affiliated with a mainline Protestant denomination, such as American Baptist, Episcopalian, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the United Church of Christ, United Methodist, and the Presbyterian Church USA, according to Barna.
Of course, some of these mainline denominations are also starting to promote same-sex marriage and have even hired active homosexual bishops and pastors who refuse to turn away from their sin.
A Sept. 14, 2009 article in Frontpage Magazine shows that President Obama and his wife, Michelle, and Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama's top advisors, are linked to another Communist radical from the 1960s, Marilyn Katz, president and Founder of MK Communications (see article at http://frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=36289).
According to the article, Katz provided "security" for the radical Neo-Marxist group Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) at the 1968 Democratic Convention and has been associated with Marxist groups and the Democratic Party for decades.
She helped found the Marxist group the New American Movement (NAM), which included Communist Party USA members. A 1973 NAM pamphlet declared support for Communists in Russia, ...
