THE HOBBIT overpowers five newcomers
THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and FROZEN managed to hold the top two spots rejecting the assault of five major new movies. ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES took third. AMERICAN HUSTLE fourth and the appalling WOLF OF WALL STREET fifth.
In FROZEN’s first wide release weekend it made $67 million. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, with a budget also above $100 million, made $18 million. FROZEN made almost $28 million in its fifth weekend. By it’s fifth weekend THE WOLF OF WALL STREET will be virtually dead.

Scientists have been reluctant to refer to natural biological occurrences as addictions. They’ve been much quicker to declare that intakes such as alcohol, heroin or opium can cause addiction.
Now, with greater understanding of brain functions, scientists are finding that pornography causes the body to create chemical and electrical impacts similar to those of a drug habit. These measurable biological events impact desires and behavior.
Just as eating a meal will cause the body’s hunger sensations to subside, so looking at pornography will cause sexual desire. Both involve chemical and neurological stimulus. Both can lead to biological training. Scientists have found that overeating increases the desire to conti...

“That’s not what I represent. What I represent is positivity and brightness and lightness and amazingness. Nothing negative at all.” – Justin Bieber, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter
“It kind of just opened so many doors for me to be like, alright, I already p*ssed you off as much as I possibly can. So, now I can kind of just be freer and kind of do whatever it is that we want to do.” – Miley Cyrus, on her performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards
As the late Art Linklater used to say, “Kids say the darnedest things,” don’t they? Especially youth who had platinum records before they had driver’s licenses.
In case you missed it, 2013 was a rather eventful year ...

As we all know, or should know, Jesus is the Reason for the Christmas Season.
This Christmas, we can have total faith in the Bible’s record of the Christmas Story, the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Christianity is true as well as historical, factual, and intellectually sound, not to mention emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, and philosophically profound and powerful.
Top scholars, historians, and experts have repeatedly confirmed that the Bible is the most historically and intellectually reliable ancient text in the whole world, including the Bible’s account of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and the apostles and disciples who wrote the New Testament documents. Consider, for example, the work of num...

It is that time of year again, so about time to start commemorating that most important thing in our lives – consumerism! Right? I for one am a loyal American and so intend to do my part in stimulating the national economy by overspending this December. The retail industry needs me. I can think of little better way to show my Christian love of neighbor than by supporting the commercial outlets that keep his life running smoothly the other eleven months of the year. Sorry, bell-ringing Santa, I have no change for your little red bucket. I have an important appointment with the vendors inside, and a GDP to think about.
Okay. I don’t really believe that DVDs and Xbox games are the true ...

What is Christmas?
It’s the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, God’s gift to mankind.
This celebration has devolved into a very secular shopping season highlighted by days called Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For many children and adults Christmas has simply become a day to receive gifts and have a big meal. Some seek to have the holiday renamed “winter holiday.”
The truth about Christmas was proclaimed by angels in the Gospel of Luke, “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David.”
Messiah means “the anointed one” – the King declared so by God himself. U...

The basic cable and satellite channel WGN America is just eight months old, but isn’t wasting any time taking on ambitious, original projects. It has just teamed with the renowned Weinstein Company (THE KING’S SOPEECH) to produce a ten-part event series about the Ten Commandments, the first such endeavor since Cecil B. DeMille’s classic 1956 epic starring Chalton Heston. Each installment of the series, set to begin filming in March, will focus on one commandment, such as idolatry, theft, or murder, and will be presided over by a different topnotch director.
As Mel Gibson’s THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, Sandra Bullock’s THE BLIND SIDE, and this year’s THE BIBLE docudrama proved,...
Do you love LES MISÉRABLES and the faith filled message it tells. As a Christmas gift to you, Movieguide® is giving away a free iPod Shuffle and a copy of the Epiphany Award Winning movie!
LES MISÉRABLES is a movie version of the beloved musical play of Victor Hugo’s novel about an ex-convict whose life is redeemed but is hounded anyway by a legalistic policeman. LES MISÉRABLES is a brilliant adaptation of this inspiring, spiritually uplifting Christian story that beautifully depicts God’s transformational powers though the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but it contains some harsh scenes showing the brokenness of humanity without God.
