Christians Worldwide Mourn the Death of Bible Teacher Ravi Zacharias

This morning, our beloved founder and apologist @ravizacharias went home to be with Jesus. RZIM’s CEO, Sarah Davis, shares this reflection on her father: On January 4, my dad recited a stanza from this hymn from the late Richard Baxter (1615-1691): ••• “Lord, it belongs not to my care Whether I die or live; To love and serve Thee is my share, And this Thy grace must give. If life be long, I will be glad, That I may long obey; If short, yet why should I be sad To welcome endless day? Christ leads me through no darker rooms Than He went through before; He that unto God’s kingdom comes Must enter by this door. Come Lord, when grace hath made me meet Thy blessed face to see; For if Thy work on earth be sweet What will thy glory be! Then I shall end my sad complaints And weary sinful days, And join with the triumphant saints That sing my Savior’s praise. My knowledge of that life is small, The eye of faith is dim; But ‘tis enough that Christ knows all, And I shall be with Him.” ••• None of us could have imagined just two months after reciting that last stanza that my dad would learn he had cancer and he would experience the realization of this more than 300-year-old hymn so soon. Today we affirm, as my dad recited and Baxter penned, “But ‘tis enough that Christ knows all, and I shall be with Him.” My dad, at 74, has “join[ed] with the triumphant saints that sing [his] Savior’s praise.” We who knew and loved him celebrate his life, and more importantly, his Savior. It was his Savior, Jesus Christ, that my dad always wanted most to talk about. Even in his final days, until he lacked the energy and breath to speak, he turned every conversation to Jesus and what the Lord had done. He perpetually marveled that God took a seventeen-year-old skeptic, defeated in hopelessness and unbelief, and called him into a life of glorious hope and belief in the truth of Scripture—a message he would carry across the globe for 48 years… CLICK THE LINK IN OUR BIO TO READ THE REST.

After years and years of listening, reading and admiring Ravi Zacharias from afar, somehow I got to meet with him twice in the last 8 months. I wanted to share about one of the photos. This first picture was taken in February of 2020 at an event he was doing in Miami. We had set up an appointment to meet for coffee, however the night before he called and asked if we could change the meeting to his hotel lobby due to his back pain. Little did we know that the excruciating pain was actually cancer. We sat and talked well over an hour. He was so kind and affirming towards me. I was taken aback by his humility and curiosity. I honestly couldn’t believe that I was sitting across the table from this spiritual giant/ genius theological brain and he was asking me questions, genuinely wanting to know my perspective (trust me I asked way more questions 😂). We laughed together, we discussed scripture together, we prayed together. We connected in a very deep way that day. That night he spoke to an arena full of 5k people searching for questions to be answered about God. He didn’t skip a beat. Every word of his message pierced like a sword to the heart. Not only did he speak, he opened the floor up for Q&A. I don’t think anyone in the audience had any idea of how much pain he was in. For some reason he asked me (WHY??) to give the invitation to follow Jesus at the end of his talk. I might have done more damage than good following Ravi, yet he had already done all the heavy lifting. With a simple call 100’s of hands were raised that night making a decision to receive Christ. I will never forget the moment. Today I am celebrating a life well lived. For decades Ravi has been changing the world, however in this moment I am reflecting on the DAY he changed mine. His life and leadership has impacted me in ways I could never express. You will be greatly missed Ravi. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. RIP #thankyouravi

Life well lived! “My longings, my hopes, my dreams, and my every effort has been to live for Him who rescued me, to study for Him who gave me this mind, to serve Him who fashioned my will, and to speak for Him who gave me a voice” Ravi Zacharias ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ We had the greatest honor of meeting @ravizacharias at @passion268 this year. Of course, we asked to take a picture, then later his assistant came to me and said Ravi would like to pray over @legitsadierob and @christian_huff after he speaks today 😭🙌🏻 No words! ⠀ ⠀ He was one of the greats, and he has received his reward. We will miss him here, but his life, his influence, his words have made an everlasting, truly eternal impact on the world that will not be forgotten.

Well Done. Ravi Zacharias was a hero, mentor, and personal friend. He was a giant in the faith, giving Christians around the world confidence in their beliefs, while challenging the world to consider the exclusive claims of Jesus. Ravi opened doors for me, shared our stage at @pulse.movement and @together.generation events, and spoke into my life in ways that I will never forget. He has left an incredible legacy of young evangelists and apologists through @rzimhq and beyond. Just a few weeks ago, Ravi and I were celebrating the impact of our ministry collaboration over Holy Week, which proved to be his last ministry event while on earth, where his message went out to possibly his largest audience ever – over 100 million people according to Nielsen ratings – with over 135,000 people responding to the Gospel. Ravi glowed with excitement, “What a work if God!” Ravi was faithful until the end. While we mourn his passing, and pray for sweet Margie, and their dear family, we know that all of heaven rejoices, and that an entire generation is ready to pick up the torch as a result of his legacy. On Saturday, May 30th, we will be honoring his legacy and sharing a recorded message from him, for an event simply called Make Jesus Known. I can’t think of a better way to honor Ravi than to continue equipping a generation to follow his lead. I love you @ravizacharias – thank you for changing my life. #thankyouravi
