Jenny Marrs recently shared an excerpt from her new book that details the moment she greeted her daughter Sylvie at the airport.
“As I walked to my boarding gate this morning, I passed A6,” she captioned an Instagram post. “And the flood of memories rushed in. I prayed the prayer of gratitude I whisper each time I pass this holy ground.”
Marrs then shared an excerpt from her latest book, Trust God, Love People, about the moment she and her husband Dave finally welcomed Sylvie home after a lengthy adoption process.
“I walked a few steps to get out of the way of the other passengers and then was unable to walk any farther. I sank to the ground in deep, deep relief,” she wrote. “I held her tightly as joyful tears streamed down my face.”
Marrs continued, “I believe the exhale that took place when she was in my arms on U.S. soil was echoed in heaven. The spiritual battle that I couldn’t see during those long days and nights was finally over. A celebratory [spirit] filled the airport arrivals terminal. To this day, whenever I pass gate A6, I say a prayer of gratitude.”

The couple previously spoke about Sylvie’s adoption process. In a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Marrs explained, “Her adoption had been finalized. She had her U.S. passport. And then the country shut down adopted kids leaving, so she couldn’t get her exit permit.”
“We were contacting anyone we thought could help us. We had people writing letters. We met with every one of our congressmen and senators,” she continued.
It took three years, but the Marrses were finally able to welcome Sylvie home.
“Adoption is a part of our family,” Marrs shared. “It’s a part of our story, but they’re all just our kids.”
Marrs recently celebrated the publication of Trust God, Love People with her family.
“Last night, I celebrated my new book with so many of the people who have walked through these stories with me,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “We laughed so hard and reminisced together and marveled at all of the twists and turns and joys and sorrows of this one incredible life.”
She continued, “I can’t get over the joy that God knew was in store for me this week with the launch of this book. Even after the hardest hards, there is still joy. His timing is always perfect.”
Marrs’ recent post recalling Sylvie’s adoption is a wonderful reminder of God’s goodness.
