Former Columbia Pictures executive DeVon Franklin revealed that his newest film, HOME, is unlike anything he’s seen in Hollywood before.

“I haven’t seen a film like this made before, and I’ve been in Hollywood since I was 18 years old, so it’s been a very long time,” Franklin said in a video shared on Instagram. “I can tell you that faith-based content has come a long way, and we have a long way to go, and I think a movie like this is the type of movie we got to get behind and champion because it has all the values that you would expect from a faith-based film, but at the same time, it has a cinematic quality to it that makes it feel as mainstream as any other film of its genre.

“So I really am excited about a film like this. This is a movie where you have great values and you have great production value as well, and so I think that’s important,” he added.

HOME follows a “charismatic con man” who is “sentenced to community service where an unexpected love story becomes a tale of courage as he risks everything to save an immigrant child to give the young boy the Home he never had,” a synopsis of the film reads, per IMDb.

HOME will be led by Movieguide® Award-winning director Sean McNamara. Howie Klausner and Dutch Hofstetter Jr. wrote the script. Garrett Backstrom, David Brookwell and Dutch Hofstetter Sr. serve as executive producers. It stars Mike Vogel, Alexa PenaVega, Dennis Haysbert and Franklin.

“HOME is a story about redemption, belonging and the unexpected ways we find purpose through other people,” McNamara told The Hollywood Reporter. “At its core, it’s about protecting those who need it most and redefining what family really means.”

In an Instagram video, Backstrom described HOME as a “love story, full of redemption and real tension…inspired by one of the most remarkable lives in Christian history: George Müller. If his name is new to you, I can’t wait to introduce you to what God did through him!”

“Five years ago, my dad called me, and he said, ‘Garrett, you have to read this book on George Müller.’ And that phone call led me here,” he explained. “We are on principal photography of a movie that took me five years to make.”

With a blend of strong cinematic production values and deep faith-based themes, HOME promises to deliver a uniquely mainstream yet redemptive story about family, belonging and courage.
