THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE 3 added four new voices to Red’s family, which is what the movie is all about.

Walker Scobell will play Glider, Red and Silver’s teenage son; Emma Meyers voices June, the creative teen daughter; Psalm West will voice baby Olly; and James Austin Johnson wraps up the pack, voicing Fuzzy, their pet spider.

Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom and Danny McBride will return to their regular roles. MrBeast and Salish Matter will also join the cast in new roles, The Hollywood Reporter said.

“It’s such a family film,” Meyers told PEOPLE. “I love seeing families go to the theater together. I think it’s so important.”

“My mom used to have this iPad with this pink case,” Scobell said. “Me and my siblings used to always play games on that when we were younger, and I remember Angry Birds was one of them.”

The actor played many versions of the game.

“I always liked Chuck,” he says of the game and movie’s speedy yellow bird. “He was always my favorite. And then I remember I actually saw the first ANGRY BIRDS movie in theaters. He was my favorite from then on.”

Unlike Scobell, Meyer’s favorite characters were the enemy.

“The pigs were my favorite,” Myers laughed. “I always felt really sad that I would attack them.”

Scobell says the movie is very different from the others. The previous movies were adventure-focused, while this one is more about Red’s new family dynamic.

“He tries to be super involved and then unintentionally really embarrasses his children, which is such a dad thing to do,” Myers explained. “I think he’s trying to be hip and cool with the kids, but then is just super cringey, which is just a classic dad move.”

“It just puts a completely different spin on the ANGRY BIRDS universe,” Scobell said. “It’s got a real heart to it.”

What makes it more interesting is the different ages of the children.

“It definitely shows you that journey of having a baby and then a kid in middle school and then a kid in high school,” Myers said. “Each one of them presents their own different struggle or their own different problem.”

Glider is a special problem all on his own.

“He’s always trying to do the next most dangerous thing,” Scobell said. “It’s kind of hard for Red to handle that and keep him from hurting himself, but also not totally stop him from doing anything fun.”

His children take after their dad in that they share the same disregard for authority.

“He’s always trying to do the next most dangerous thing,” Meyers added. “It’s kind of hard for Red to handle that and keep him from hurting himself, but also not totally stop him from doing anything fun.”

It’s been seven years since the last ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE, so fans will be jumping at the bit to see this when it comes out on Dec. 23. Check back to Movieguide.org for the full review closer to release date.
