No foul language but there is some brief toilet humor (one of the computer devices in the movie is a potty-training device for toddlers called “Smarty Pants”, and it has a poop emoji)

More Detail:

TOY STORY 5 takes the toys back to Bonnie’s house, where Bonnie’s relationship with the toys is destroyed when Bonnie’s parents finally give her Lilypad, a brand-new, scheming tablet device that bewitches Bonnie into stop playing. TOY STORY 5 is a wonderful ride, with a great, delightful, funny, heartfelt, redemptive ending, though one of the tech devices is a potty training machine for toddlers.

As the movie opens, Woody and Bo Beep are still out and away, helping abandoned toys. Meanwhile, Bonnie is staging a wedding between Forky and Karen or Knifey, the toy Bonnie made out of a plastic knife. About the same time, a box of new Buzz Lightyear toys are stranded on a desert island when their large container wrecked and washed ashore. A Buzz leader emerges, and the toys build a raft to follow a bright star in the sky that they think is Star Command.

Back at Bonnie’s house, the toys are upset because Bonnie is having trouble making friends. In fact, the twin boy and girl next door shun her because Bonnie’s still laying with toys while they and the other children in the neighborhood are constantly on screen devices.

Bonnie’s parents recognize the problem Bonnie is having. So, they decide to buy her Lilypad, a new tablet device that connects children over the internet. However, Lilypad is a jealous, scheming device that, like all the other devices, totally absorbs Bonnie’s time. Is the Age of Toys over? Not if Buzz Lightyear and Jessie the cowgirl have anything to say about it.

Bonnie is invited on a sleepover with some children Lilypad connected to Bonnie. So, Jessie and Bullseye the Horse hide in Bonnie’s luggage to keep an eye on the scheming Lilypad. In the car ride over to the sleepover, Bonnie finds them hiding there. Thinking her father had placed them there, Bonnie is at first happy about it. However, when she and her father arrive at the sleepover, the other children make fun of for bringing two toys. So, she dumps Jessie and Bullseye back into her dad’s car before he drives away.

Jessie and Bullseye escape and try to return to Bonnie, but they get waylaid, and their mission becomes even harder.

Back at Bonnie’s house, Woody appears after getting an SOS call from Jessie the night before. Buzz and the other toys realize that Jessie and Bullseye should have been back by now. Can Woody help them track down Jessie?

TOY STORY 5 is a wonderful ride that recreates and expands upon the joys and emotions from TOY STORY 2 in a great new adventure. Everything leads to a delightful third act that generates loads of cheers, laughs and tears. Also, the ending is very redemptive and concludes with another wedding. So, TOY STORY 5 strongly promotes traditional marriage. It also promotes friendship, good parenting, repentance, making amends, helping children, and church weddings.

TOY STORY 5 also has an excellent message about the fact that children today are inundated with tech devices. It focuses on the fact that children are given devices at a young age, which leads them to have to mature faster, which is a topic MOVIEGUIDE® has reported on for years. In the movie, it stresses that physical play is so important for the development of children, including helping them with their personal relationships and emotional wellbeing. MOVIEGUIDE® commends TOY STORY 5 for on touching on these important subjects.

One of the tech devices in TOY STORY 5 is a potty training devices. So, there are a few references to potty training. Also, while none of the scenes or characters are really scary, the situations may cause some stress and anxiety in younger children.
