Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino appeared on Fox & Friends live from Wildwood, New Jersey, on Friday to talk addiction recovery, his treatment centers and a possible run for governor — but his most striking message had nothing to do with politics.
“God saved my life from the fiery pits of hell, but on one condition — I go back in with buckets of water to save others,” Sorrentino said in a recent Instagram video, the same message driving everything he’s doing right now.
The 43-year-old JERSEY SHORE star spent years hiding a prescription painkiller addiction from cameras and co-stars alike. He cycled through rehab three times between 2012 and 2015, served eight months in federal prison for tax evasion and emerged on the other side a man his old fans barely recognize — in the best way.
He marked 10 years of sobriety on Dec. 24, 2025.
In the comment section of that same post, Sorrentino spelled out why he went public with his story. “God saved me from the fiery pits of hell with a purpose. To go back and help pull other people out too. That’s why I wrote my book. To share the setbacks, the lessons, the comeback, and to let people know that one bad chapter does not mean your story is over.”
His book, Reality Check: Making the Best of the Situation, digs into the drug-fueled depths of reality TV fame, his prison stint and the long road back. It’s not a sanitized redemption arc — it’s the kind of raw honesty only someone who’s actually lived it can write.

The memoir was only the start. Sorrentino co-founded Archangel Centers with his wife Lauren and childhood friend Michael Smilovitch, opening their first location in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, in Nov. 2025. The center offers partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programs, along with dual diagnosis treatment for those battling both addiction and mental health challenges.
At the Tinton Falls ribbon-cutting, his JERSEY SHORE co-stars showed up — Snooki, JWoww, Vinny, Ronnie, Deena and Angelina, all of them there. So was New Jersey Senator Vin Gopal.
“I have made all the mistakes that most would make. I have acquired all of the knowledge and education and experience needed to now teach others how to be successfully recovered like I am,” Sorrentino told New Jersey Monthly at the opening.
The goal isn’t just one center. Archangel expects to add five locations in 2026, with a July opening in Matthews, North Carolina, plus sites in Florida and Nevada. Sorrentino has said he wants Archangel Centers in all 50 states — eventually worldwide.
“When people come in here, their life is on the line, whether they realize it or not. This can and will be the turning point in people’s lives,” he said.
Movieguide® previously covered Sorrentino’s faith transformation, and his fan base has responded strongly — comments flooding in from believers noting, as one put it, that “the fruit of the Spirit is so visible in this man.”
“My main goal is to change the stigma of addiction and let people know that we’re all human and we make mistakes, and everyone is deserving of a second chance. The comeback is always greater than a setback,” he said.
Friday’s Fox & Friends appearance also put some political speculation on the table — Sorrentino hinted at a possible run for New Jersey governor, though he kept it light, making clear the addiction fight is the main event for now.
For a man once defined by fist-pumping and GTL, his real “situation” these days is something entirely different: going back in with buckets of water.
