TOY STORY is Hollywood’s longest-running animated franchise for good reason.

TOY STORY resonates with everyone’s inner child. It’s forever family friendly and never presents problematic themes that parents unpleasantly discover in other animated content today.

Tony Hale, who plays Forky in the franchise, says everyone loves it because “you see this community of characters stick together,” Hale told The HoloFiles. “You see that family. You see that they’re rooting for each other.” It makes you feel good.

In TOY STORY 5, which comes out on June 19, the toys will fight to protect their kid’s best interests after she’s introduced to an addictive technology — the tablet.

“The toys have usually worried about their own fates,” said producer Lindsey Collins. “This is really the first time we see them desperately worried about the fate of their kids. In this world, the toys are the parents to some degree.”

The 30-year franchise has made over $3 billion worldwide, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Part of Movieguide®’s review of TOY STORY 5 reads, “TOY STORY 5 is a wonderful and funny animated ride…It also promotes friendship, good parenting, repentance, making amends, and helping others. TOY STORY 5 also has a great warning for parents about not letting children become addicted to their tech devices and screens.”

Each TOY STORY movie has been recognized at Movieguide®’s Faith & Values Awards Gala over the years, and it’s likely that TOY STORY 5 will be in next year’s running, too.

TOY STORY, TOY STORY 2 and TOY STORY 3 were ranked as the Best Movie for Families in 1996, 2000 and 2011, respectively, at the Movieguide® Awards.

In 1996, as Dr. Ted Baehr presented the Teddy Bear Award® to Andrew Stanton, writer of TOY STORY, he said, “TOY STORY shows that friendship and forgiveness triumphs over jealousy, envy and adversity.”

Part of Movieguide®’s review of TOY STORY 4 says it’s “another breakthrough in great computer animation, and even greater storytelling,” with “incredible pro-family, pro-redemption, pro-self-sacrifice messages.”

In 2000, Dr. Ted Baehr said, “The myth is that bad guys finish first, but if you look at the top grossing films, you will see that that is not true. Even last year, when I expected this not to be true, movies with strong moral content had an average of $209 million in the top 25 films. The top 25 films were not made up of the Academy Award nominees, but rather of films that people went to see in spite of the fact that the newspapers, and everybody else, were hyping movies like CIDER HOUSE RULES, which had only made $23 million when it was nominated for an Oscar, while TOY STORY 2, which the newspapers ignored, posted $300 million.”

Movieguide® is proud that TOY STORY has been so successful. The franchise proves that audiences love moral, family stories the best.
