British actress Jane Seymour, 75, recently got engaged to John Zambetti, a musician and ER doctor, and she feels blessed for it.

“I think you just have to be out there and be open to it,” said Zambetti, whose dated Seymour for three years. “I mean, just don’t be in a shell, just be open to it, because it’s all out there.”

He explained that it’s a miracle to find love at his age of 78.

Seymour agreed: “In my opinion, too. It’s a miracle.”

“I love him. I cannot believe that I got lucky enough to find the perfect person at this time in my life,” she said at the Race to Erase MS benefit in LA. “I was not available before, and he wasn’t available before. So, you know, now is it, right now.”

They each have an appreciation for each other’s professions.

“He understands that I love what I do. I understand how much he loves what he does,” Seymour said. “And we’re just equally supportive of one another, and it’s great.”

“I go off and make a movie, he is there with me. I turn around, and he’s put out four albums. I’m like, what?” she said.

They both feel like teenagers when they are around each other.

“It’s like we’re at our parents’ house, but our parents never come home,” Zambetti said.

“It’s great,” Seymour added. “And then the kids come, and then we have to behave.”

Zambetti spontaneously proposed on her birthday, the day before Valentine’s Day.

“It got to be close to her birthday. It was actually Valentine’s Day, the day before her birthday. I thought, ‘This is insane. I’m just gonna do it,'” he said.

He had to get under the bed to pull out the safe, with the ring in it, but he got stuck and she had to pull him out.

Seymour recalled, “We looked at one another and started laughing hysterically.”

Zambetti has shared photos of the two of them at an art event, vacationing in Italy and dressing up in goofy Christmas outfits.

Seymour said last year, “I honestly never thought I would find a really committed, healthy, lovely, loving relationship at this time of my life. But I’m incredibly blessed that I have,” she added, “70 is the new 50.”

“I consider both of us so fortunate to have found each other at the time we have, because it wouldn’t have ever worked earlier,” she continued, explaining, “He had a different life — his world was medicine and touring, and mine was running around the world making movies. I think we met each other at exactly the right time.”

Congratulations to the happy couple on their engagement.
